Beautiful horse portrait. You've captured a real sense of personality here. Good job on placing the focus too. It makes me want to reach out and pet him.

I enjoyed discovering the swan mingling in with the sailboats, as if he's trying to emulate them. :)

Craftsmanship...

Excellent composition and lighting. Nice contrast of warm and cool hues. Very well done.

P.S. Sorry for the image links. I tried to get the TIMG extension working in both Chrome and Firefox, to no avail.

Red Polls... not purple finches. Thanks Doylem !

We have had flocks of Red Polls moving through... I have the niger feeders out and these birds can eat you out of house and home ! I caught this pair of males (?) on a data card this afternoon...

Thank you. The horse seemed engaged and its personality shone through. Taking the colour out of the sky in pp seemed to emphasise this, in a way that I hadn't expected. Focus is down to the good old nifty fifty.

... aaaand as it's just turned midnight here in London, today's photo is of frozen grass in Richmond Park, London, this past Saturday. Taken with iPhone 4.

R.I.P Bogey

My daughter had to put her German Shepard down today. She had developed bone cancer. Bogey was one of the most sweetest and gentlest dogs I have ever come in contact with. She would let my daughter's crawling infants climb over her, pull her ears and tail and never growl or move away. Anyway, here is a tribute to our sweet Bogey from a prior photo. Have fun in puppy heaven.

RIP Bogey. The loss of a close family member, especially those with wet noses, is woefully deep and intense. Your daughter and her family is in our thoughts.

Thanks!

The same location, while I was already on my way out with my stuff packed, quickly grabbed again my camera, handheld (previous post was with tripod).

RIP indeed - it's a sad thing to happen. :( My neighbour has a German Shepherd as well, she is brilliant with children, absolutely adores them.

Amazing how they stay in the air...

Aha - now the bug has bitten you as well! :D Nice shot. Now, you must hire a helicopter, as one of the other 'famous' photographers often does. ;) The A380 is quite impressive when you see it lifting off the runway from the front. The wings are huge! But my favourites is the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. Its infamous takeoff performance is the stuff of legend! ;)

I was trying to capture the retro-themed Thai B747-400 last night from the other side of the airport. Stupidity wrecked the shot. I wondered how, given the light over there was better - did I still need to use ISO12800 to get 1/30sec with F/4.0?

At last minute, I checked the filter holder. Had the 8x ND still in the thing. And of course, the normal filter was put away in the box, in the back of the car - some 5 minutes walk away. Argh! Stupid stupid stupid! But it happens when you are tired I guess.

Good thing is I can easily track the movements of that plane and I'll photograph it again another time. I'll get it this afternoon at another location standing on a ladder, but sadly in daylight, rather than at night.

Spotters standing on ladders and the B777. Quite a few well known photographers in that one photo.
