Took this at a party I covered the other night.

^^I like the anonymity of that shot.

From back in March, when I was trying to entertain myself on an overcast day. This gorge gets two kinds of light only: a harsh sun right overhead (no fun) or else diffused light coming through a cloud layer.

I'll inject a little color after these couple very nice black and white photos. I only wish I hadn't cut off the tip of the anchor.

I got an adapter to use my dad's old Pentax K mount lenses on my Canon. I had the Soligor 70-220mm f/3.5 on to take pictures of some hosta, when this wasp landed right on it. It clearly wanted pictures taken, and posed for me for several shots.

Note the EXIF data is all wrong for aperture and focal length because the lens is old. I believe it was f/3.5, but I don't remember the focal length.

I'm quite happy with my first attempt with that lens. Not bad for a 30+ year old lens.

Little alien...

Recently discovered there are dozens of these little guys (and gals, I'm assuming) in the bushes around my house. This one was kind enough to pose for me.

C/C is very much appreciated.

Trying out Reef's new TIMG plugin... awesome! (but I notice it didn't work correctly with appie57's pic... I had to manually retag that)

Ran a very enjoyable workshop last weekend; this pic reminds me what it's like to be out in the Lakeland landscape, with a camera, when the light is changing...

You live in such beautiful country. You are blessed (and not just with your surroundings but with your photography skills as well!)

^^Looks like fun.

Spotlight on "The Rock": The clouds parted and let a beam of sunlight through for less than a minute, and that was the only good light I saw this day...

Great capture! Were you on a boat?

City of Sydney from Bradley's Head.

Beautiful long exposure and great composition. Nicely done!

Angelic, Heavenly, Devine... those are the words that come to mind.

The "approaching storm" theme

Very cool lighting.

Interesting, I'll take a closer look when my time off starts tomorrow (and do the FF version).

Nice - sharp and punchy colours. I think I'm tempted to crop the top off...maybe.
There are some great performers in the vintage catalogue.

Yes, I was on a sailboat. We were having a fairly boisterous sail that day, and the skipper was not too comfortable with me having two hands on a camera, but I had watched the clouds opening up over Alcatraz and couldn't resist getting the camera out. So my husband held on to me while I held onto the camera. Thank goodness for husbands and IS lenses!

Woohoo! :)

Must have been going around in the insect world, since my wasp was clearly posing for me, too.

FF would be awesome! :)

I tried two different crops of that shot. The original has a lot more leaf below the insect, but it is mostly out of focus from the shallow dof. I decided to crop that part and leave the top part with the hosta bloom in the background to balance the top and bottom of the image some. I think I'll post the original and some other cropping ideas in a separate thread later to get opinions.

I was quite impressed with the lens performance, too. I only did a basic sharpening in Aperture since it didn't need much from the original.

Note this one did not auto-timg in Chrome, either. Oh, and good shot of a pretty lady.

Thanks VirtualRain!

One of the ladies preparing flat bread with toppings in a roadside trucker restaurant, Turkey. After asking they were happy to pose.
