Hmm I've seen that moon in this forum previously...

Okay, nice shot... I actually drove to a lake last evening hoping to chase a sunset. I was too late and all the picturesque fishing shacks have been taken off the ice. THEN on the drive home, this HUGE full moon... and because I'm in traffic, I can't stop. It was not a good night for me. So you photo is better, by far, than any moon shot I've attempted. Barry

I had the luck of having a 600mm lens and a 2x TC at my disposal last night. All that "horse power" helps in keeping some of the details since I didn't have to crop that much.

Nice shot!!
1200mm really helps. I only had 200mm at my disposal.

oh, and BarryJ: I love you too :) :)

I took some moon shots last night, but I only have am 18-135mm, and I haven't had time to process them yet. There isn't much detail since I can't get very close. I did get quite a few when it was just rising and still orange, though. Once I process through them I'll put them on flickr.

This is great hall of the old mansion building at my church.

I Love this, great job! Only nit picking I got, is that she isn't centered on the hood. But that's me just being nit picky.

Great well-executed concept and I like the off-center pose, the only thing that bugs me is her smile looks tense and forced- if she were more relaxed it'd be even more killer.

Thanks for the kind words and CC... Here's another one from that shoot...

Why is it ?

Maybe it's just me, but why is it these kind of shots are so visually captivating? I appreciate some of the stills shot by those astronauts wielding Hasselblads were pretty cool, and we do have video from the lunar surface... but I love these moon shots and this one is so sharp. Thanks for posting... when Oblomo and I grow up... and buy really long glass, we wanna take photos of the moon just like this! So cool that shot ! The moon floating in the ether. It's kind-of akin to that famous "little blue planet" shot - Well done Rowbear.

Barry.

Mr. Noise Maker

After coming home from a walk this afternoon I keep hearing this loud "Burrap" tapping sound. My wife located the sound. a Northern Flicker sitting on a transformer next to the house. Every now and then he would just start banging away at it.... It must have made a pleasing sound to him, cause he sure is not going to get any good bugs out of it.:)

Close, but no cigar

I wish they lit the sign, but maybe Sunday isn't the time or maybe I didn't wait long enough- either way I'm disappointed that not even one of the 40,000 bulbs are lit on the sign. Maybe next time.
