Here is my first shared photo...now that I finally have a decent camera (my GH2 arrived!). As it chronicles the end of a beautiful friendship...be kind!

That is whole lot of peaty awesomeness!

Thank you. I quite like the Sigma 50 F/1.4. Well built, focuses fast, and has very dreamy, almost surreal, style bokeh.

Yes it was...sigh...

It was fun to play with this shot. Used the 20mm lens and no flash so it was interesting to see how shallow the depth of focus was and what happened when the focus was on the glass versus the bottle. Tried to jazz it up with the last of the scotch in the glass but...it was better in stomach than in glass

My family and I rowed in the lake in Central Park and I managed to get some nice shots of the surroundings. Here's one of them:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs Toronto FC
A shot from the very first Whitecaps MLS game. It was totally awesome. Definitely enjoyed it more than any Canucks games I've ever been to. The atmosphere was great, sweet stadium, and overall exciting game.

The water in this creek is so clear and smooth that you can't see the water itself. You can only tell it is there because of the reflections of the trees and sky.

One of the better waterfall photos i have seen in a while. I like the composition. The waterfall is not really the subject, only a supporting element in the whole photo. Nice work.

Nice colours indeed. Pity it's shown so small. The larger one looks much nicer.

Welease the wabbit!

can it be this?
I like the framing on this shot. The tree branches make it a lot more than a pic of a giant rabbit sculpture. Your earlier "in progress" photo of this put it in contest and kept me from asking what it was.

I like this a lot. the colors are a great capture and I like the reflection. There's too much distance between the moon and the reflection, though. Next time move the horizon down by about 1/3...:)

Thanks Dale. I felt the same, that's why I went back this week. Glad to see my instinct was right. When it's finished it will be a tower with a viewing platform behind its eyes.

First attempt at this... not sure my timing was right.... the sky is a little too dark and cloudy. -13C here... Brutal.

Looks like you needed to slow down the shutter speed even more to get some continuous, uninterrupted light streaks. But then again at that temp those extra seconds might cause some serious damage!

Blue Heron

Hello everyone,

I've lurked for quite some time and I've finally decided to contribute. I'm an amateur with the camera and eager to learn so I'd appreciate any advice on improving the photo! This is a picture of a Great Blue Heron who frequents the lake near my office. I took this during my lunch break.

Thanks.

A bit of fill flash for a catchlight in the eye, and if possible a lower perspective would work here. Which lake does this bird live in?
