Single soft-box to the right? I like the use of shadow to add drama and depth. Not so keen on having the top of her head sliced off tho!

Is that your telecaster?

Town House Pub (Portsmouth) Self Portrait

I love this technique, I have no idea what it's called though.

Canon EOS 60D
10s
f/2.8
17 mm
ISO100

I should let the poster reply, but that's not a Tele... (and not a Fender, either.) It's a copy of a Stratocaster.

apologies ... Fender made a "California" model of the Tele, and I mistakenly thought this was such, even tho it looks more like a Strat.

Which gives the idea that I should do some studio shots of my Strat sometime!

Yea guys :D Sorry about the crop up top. Other than that I am pleased with it too. I'm still working on my framing and getting it dialed in (only been shooting for 2 years almost). It's getting better, but this is one of those shots I liked so much that I had to (grudgingly because the slice bothers me too) include. After I posted this, I got numerous offers of people willing to lend their awesome guitars to me. I may do this again outside or something and use a Fender or something else.

*btw that was my first studio shoot with the Sigma 50mm I just got. So far pretty impressed with the quality of that lens. I'd like to try some of their more expensive zooms too.

^^^ Interesting crop... I like it.

Mine for today, from an evening last week at Whytecliff Park in West Van... (how many people can you spot in this shot? :) )

3 here also :)

Interestingly, when taking the picture, I didn't notice the two on the foreground rocks... but then later I noticed something strange on that far point... it looks like there's one or possibly two people with a dog (one of the people seems to be taking off a jacket or stretching)! Here's a 100% crop...

Apologies for double post, but thought you guys might appreciate some of the hardware on display, wouldn't want to drop these in the river!

I've always wanted to know how people are able to afford a long lens. Here in British Columbia, there are a few well known places for bird photography in the wild. I see many photographers with HUGE lens. 500VR, canon 800 and one guy said he had a 1200mm which I didn't believe but it could have been an 800 with some teleconverters but anyways... how do they afford them. a Nikkor 500mm VR, which I want by the way, costs about $8000.
I've seen a few guys that have more then one uber long lens. What do these guys do for a living?

Jason... I'm really jealous you get to take photos of really beautiful hot sexy pretty awesome amazing and all that stuff plus a cherry on top girls. And I don't mean it in a creepy way I'm just saying you take great photos of hot girls. You got skills!

Here's my photo. It's ok...

Another killer image dude!

I'm confused, but it's late so forgive me, but looking at the EXIF, it says...

Quote:
Exposure: Manual exposure, 4 sec, f/8, ISO 100, Compensation: -5
Date: March 23, 2011 7:04:29PM

Exp. compensation of -5 with 4 sec @ f8? It doesn't seem to make sense just before or after sunset (depending on whether your camera clock is set for DST). What am I missing?

It also says Manual Exposure, which means the shot was taken with a 4 second exposure at f8 and iso 100. The exposure compensation doesn't come in play during manual exposure. It does at all others though, and he did say he was playing with the compensation earlier.
Similar thing had me wondering the same for a few of my shots. I was shooting in the snow and had the exposure compensation set to +2 in AV mode, then switched to a manual focus manual aperture lens, which meant I had to shot in M mode. Exif info for those shots still shows EV+2 for some reason ...
