Pretty close: it's an old gas holder (or gasometer, as they are sometimes called). The apartment building was built into the superstructure. This is what it used to look like: link.

This is what the interior looks like:

Thanks Joe, I had seen them in the background of some episodes of The Bill and some movies, wondering what they were. That is very cool repurposing and well captured!

Really enjoying the bird shots being posted and great capture of the Scarlet Tanager Fezwick...I've never seen one let alone had the chance to get a photo.

Mine for today is a Blue Jay:

Is this not due to the DOF rather than motion blur?

I think it's a little of both actually. Hummingbirds flap their wings 50-200 a second. You'd need a shutter speed over 1/10000 to really freeze the motion of the wings. I've read that instead of using a fast shutter speed, use a short duration flash instead.

FWIW - I really like your capture just as it is. Well done.

Sorry for the indulgence - one more from Sunday's road trip.

I was at Epcot (during the IllumiNations firework & laser show) and took this picture by accident, when testing exposure settings. When going through my pics in Lightroom, I realized I liked how it turned out and didn't discard it. I'm fairly new to photography/editing, so feel free to critique. I'm obsessed with nighttime photography, so I welcome any advice!
