Thanks Mel, that's exciting! I don't have any photos of Townsville but a road trip up that way is definitely something I want to do.
It's about a 25 hour drive north of where I am.

I suspect you're going to see the Great Barrier Reef?

Here's some pix (not mine) on 500px:

If you are going to see the reef, be sure to go on an underwater tour, the boats have a glass section below allowing you to see the marine life. It'd make for some incredible photography!

My picture for the day:

Another beaut, Reef. Here's some Indian pictographs along the Colorado River on the road from Moab to Potash.

This month has been fantastic so far guys. Can't believe the quality of some of the photos. Hopefully over the summer I can travel and get some good shots, but alas for now my work will be limited as I have my final exams in a month - damn you revision!

But still, congrats to all the photos so far :D

Love the colors in this photo. Did you do any post processing? I'd have a field day with the .raw file.

Thanks, for your feedback! Yes, I definitely did post processing here. This shot was made indoor(fluorescent light) and I usually like my pictures to have 'warmth feel' and be a little retro/vintage/filmesque or whatever this is called. Over the time I made some Presets and usually go from there (i.e. fine tuning). I have no problem sending you the raw-file, but it's almost 19MB.

I usually don't like taking or posting photos of myself, but I had to mark the occasion as I had just got my new (and very first) pair of glasses; as it turns out, my eyes are much worse than I had realized!

Last month I posted a shot of a Great Horned Owl and mentioned that a pair had nested locally...the owlets (2) are now out of the nest. :)

First and foremost; great capture, great photograph - congratulations. Second, and on a more personal level - I am insanely jealous! I live in the woods, and have both Great Horned and Western Screech owls close by the house. Many is the evening that we sit outside and listen to one or the other - and sometimes both. But after almost 20 years of living here, I have yet to spot one in a circumstance where I can photograph them. I've searched for scat to try and detect their nesting places, but to no avail. When I see them, it's always in low light, usually in motion, and never in a spot where I can get a lens on them.

Salute to not only your photo, but your woodsman skills as well!
