Sunset @ UBC in Vancouver, BC, Canada by Sunny Jhooty, on Flickr

Well done Archie and done in camera! Was it done completely in camera or in camera with some pp?

The shot comes out as a single raw image so I had a little tinker with saturation and contrast but there was no realigning or anything like that. As on my camera I am not able to save the two individual frames as well as the composite.

It's actually a really empowering shooting mode and really fun to shoot with for a different take on a familiar subject.

Nice color. Do you have more shots of her? From a lower viewpoint, her a bit more to the right (of center, and the end of her dress not passed the corner)?

Thanks, I do not have a lower viewpoint. I had to sand in the street to get that shot and there was traffic so I shot a few frames and that was it.

Thank you for the insightful comment Phrasikleia, it's funny you say that because I had an itch that it might be too bright, but decided to be rebellious :p

The relative brightness in the foreground can be attributed to an orange glow in the sky that appeared just after sunset. And yes those are queued freight ships ready to pick up material from the steelworks at Port Kembla in the very far distance. We export a lot up to China.

Well, we all know the 'rule' about bright foregrounds, but I think yours works very well in that one.

By the way, Reef, I noticed in your signature the mention of the app you developed and promptly bought it and reviewed it to support you. :)

EDIT: Just like to also say guys that some of the pictures, especially those from Phrasikleia, TheReef and Schtumple are really fantastic. Keep up the ace work guys!

Many thanks for the encouragement, AT06. :)

Belting out his favorite tune? Nice catch.

How'd you get it to stay still so long? These little guys, and their Barn Swallow cousins, taunt me almost daily!

They can be a challenge and I don't think I'll ever get one in flight but I've had some success in a meadow where kind souls have put up swallow houses. The swallows will stay still for a bit on or near their home.

I've got some ok shots of them sitting on one of these houses that I'll post later (on the road with my iPad right now).

The shot comes out as a single raw image so I had a little tinker with saturation and contrast but there was no realigning or anything like that. As on my camera I am not able to save the two individual frames as well as the composite.

Thanks Archie. I remember doing double exposures way back in my film days but never thought of the digital possibilities. I'll have to give it a try. Your shot is outstanding and, for me, the appeal is even greater because it was created in camera by the photographer.

Belting out his favorite tune? Nice catch.

Thanks Phrasikleia...belting out a tune or hoping some unfortunate bug will just fly right in. :)

Sciurus griseus

Nothing special today - was gazing out my home office window a little earlier and this fellow was staring back at me -- so I felt obligated to take his portrait.

I usually work at the Magic Kingdom Park but picked up a closing shift at Epcot and couldn't pass up the "empty park" shot. I have to admit that despite staring at it for the last 16 years it never gets old.

A Golden Whistler spotted on our bush-walk yesterday. The split focus screen arrived after we got home, so the focus is a little in front.
