Taken while out hunting earlier this fall. Not what most people picture when they think about Kansas.

Thanks for your comments mackmgg, fireman32, fcortese, and compuwar!

I guess it's safe to say that you've "discovered" the beauty of fog!!:) Another slice of mystical magic. Is the sky that color at that time of the day? I know you like the use of filters; if so, which did you use if I may ask.

Yes, the sky really was that color just after the sun had set. I used a graduated neutral density filter on it, as I usually do, and had it pulled down to cover the area with the fog as well. That helped me to get those brighter tones to play nicely with the darker ones of the trees below. I think I may also have had a CPL on the lens. I was definitely using the CPL on shots I took before the sun had set, and I think I decided to keep it on in case it would help with the fog and the sky. I'm still learning what works best with these fog shots.

^^^Thanks, Ms. P! I was getting ready for work when my wife yelled to me-"you should see this morning's sky." I did, so I ran and got my camera and quickly snapped this from my front porch. If I had more time I would have tried a GND filter but work beckons. :(

Wow!

Thanks to a tip of Keleko in a sister thread (thanks!) I bought the Nik software plugins for Aperture with a nice rebate yesterday. I am mainly interested in the B&W conversion tool, so here we go with a pic I took yesterday.

You're welcome! And I like the B&W conversion you did with it. I wish I had Nik myself, but I can't afford it (yet). I have Topaz, though, and they just released a B&W conversion plugin of their own that seems to work well. I used it for this shot of my church's Thanksgiving Market. I liked how the people just happened to line up this way in the shot.

Although not as dramatic as the previous few I enjoyed this am's sunrise as well. Took this out behind my office just before heading inside to get my day started.
