Ok, so we drove by Stone henge and it was pouring rain. We stopped and it stopped raining. We walked up to the site and were discussing how cool it would be if the clouds would break and the sun would come out. What do you know.. they did!! Rain clouds all around and then this.... lucky.
Never shot more photos in a 5 minute period than that day.... Slight curve adjustment was all I added to this.
Shot with a Nikon D700 and a 24-70mm Nikon.
Click on it, the thumbnail does NOT do it any justice IMHO.

Sometimes the gods smile down on us... we have to be ready. ;) I always love it when that happens, but usually I don't have my camera... Anyway, it's a captivating photo with the cool, brooding skies and the warm light and shadows on this iconic place. Nice job!

I hope you don't mind, this is on my desktop at the moment. :)

A phenomenal photo, flosseR. This is one that will be a jewel in your crown forever after.

A really enjoyable pic: a composition that just hangs together...

A special shot... created by light, not just a Photoshop plug-in. You can't beat the real thing... ;)

I don't think I've seen many better pix of Stonehenge (and it must be one of the most photographed places in UK). It would look great on the wall...

Stunning! That's one in a million!

It makes me sad, because I'm planning a stop at Stonehenge on a quick tour of Wales in a couple of weeks and now I won't be happy with anything less than conditions like this! :(

EDIT... almost forgot to post a photo :)

Thanks everyone for the comments on the photo.
It was a lucky shot and probably i will never get that lucky ever again. Anyone who is interested in having a larger version, just msg me.

On the flip side, I have about 50 shots that did NOT work out :)

Flosser, that is a stunning picture of Stonehenge.

Lots of good pictures this month, been awhile for me to post something, so here is mine for today, not a food picture either...

EXIF Summary: 1/800s f/8.0 ISO200 18mm (35mm eq:27mm)

One long table for 180 guests that are about to arrive. Four courses, with the main course being two whole roasted pigs, which I managed to burn in a BBQ flare up. We recovered well though and everyone loved the food and the experience.

A couple more photos

Taken at Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur

Great idea for a forum topic, by the way. I love all the photos that everyone has posted :D

Mine too! This Stonehenge photo is a real stunner.

You're going to be disappointed: Stonehenge is in England, not Wales ... :)

This is great. Looks like people are about to have a fantastic time.

Well, I just went to Cornwall for a couple of days, and forgot to bring my camera (rushing to get out ... only realised once we were too far to turn back, d'oh!). But at least I had my iPhone ...

I took this shot while taking a short vacation in Avalon on Santa Catalina Island, California a couple days ago. I don't have a tripod and there wasn't anything around to stabilize the shot so I eyeballed the shot and managed to get the exposures needed to make an HDR composite. Considering that Halloween is coming up and the sky was very overcast, I thought it all looked a bit spooky.

Hi

Well I suppose I better introduce myself, my name is Shaun I got my first DLSR about 2 months ago, in fact it was looking at the pictures here that inspired me to try photography as a hobby.

I have been trying to learn the basics for the last couple of months and I have just started Evening classes last week.

Rather then just lurk and look at everyones photo's I thought I post a few of mine up, that I took today. While I'm no where near the general standard here, I hope to be!........one day Lol!

All C & C most welcome, any chance to learn will help...

Thanks

Welcome Shaun. But it's one photo per day. Please read the first post of this thread.

Time I start contributing to this thread since I regularly go through all the awesome snaps...

Took this one a couple weeks ago when I was in Hoboken, NJ.... This is shot with the Canon EF 200mm F2.8 lens and obviously multiple exposures overlayed in PS since you will always blow out the moon in a long exposure in order to capture the city lights.
