Out for a quick photowalk today at a local conservation area. I had a ND filter and CIR-POL stacked; some adjustments in Elements 8. C&C welcomed....

The CPL helped you to get some blue in the sky, but I'm not sure what you were hoping to accomplish with the ND. It hasn't given you any motion blur in the water or sky, and you weren't using it to get a wider aperture than light would allow. All the ND seems to have done is make your shutter speed slow enough to introduce camera shake. As for the composition, the horizon placement is pretty good, but the subject is pointing the eye right out of the top of the frame.

And for today, a shot I took back in July...

Thanks for the crit! I was using a tripod for this shot, but yeah, after thinking about it, I really don't think I needed the ND filter for anything. It was a little breezy and I wanted to try and get the hazy-looking effect of the water in some other shots, but didn't take the filter off for other shots.

Wow, I didn’t expect to get that much discussion. It was just a quick post to test Dale’s new flickr guide.
Anyway, all points are taken, and I think the image does benefit from cropping, thanks to all who took the time to help me produce a better image.

Shortly after posting last night, our dog wanted out just before heading off to bed and this is what I saw, so I had to go in and get the camera and tripod. Not as nice as AlaskaMoose’s shot above, but I was happy to get the capture. Hopefully I will be able to try again tonight.

My friend, Pat Malach, getting the shots for OregonCyclingAction, his website which covers cycling in Oregon and the Pacific NW. I had some fun covering the guy covering the sport.

What a funny event ... hurdles, bikes and cornfields. Haven't seen anything like that before.
It's interesting to see the "event" happening in third person. Thanks for sharing.

Nice simple pattern, would make a good Desktop Picture.

Nice Phrasikleia, I really like the contrast the cools and warms with the external lighting.
Gotta love those voice activated light stands. :)

Beautiful Colours, so gentle yet powerful, great shot!

I agree, there's less distraction now, bringing out that stunning sky.

Salterhebble Locks... where the Rochdale Canal meets the Calder & Hebble Navigation. The canal system: probably the last technology that everyone can understand... ;)

I've always had a fascination with the locks and canal system, thanks for sharing.

Shooting some soccer shots of my red-head daughter's 1st game of the fall season (yellow jersey, we won!).
It was raining/pouring - can you see the streaks , so these were from under umbrella.
When others shoot their kids soccer do you shot faster (1/250) to more freeze the scene or what?
I was shooting f7.1 and 125/sec with the 15-85 @ 70mm, I wanted some blur in the shots to show action, yet not too much.
This I feel worked below, but some other shots too much blur.
(my 55-250 kit lens was.....left at home by mistake  , so had to crop a little for tighter view)
Below cropped/PP in aperture 3.

Las Vegas Strip - NOT

A suburban part of Las Vegas called Desert Shores. Some duck and geese available but most were "resting" with no activity. Will post a few over the next couple of days.

I generally avoid patriotic themes when choosing subjects--just isn't my thing. I couldn't resist this backlit flag though. Debating whether I should flip it since having the flagpole on the left just seems more "right."

I really like the flowing diagonal line through this photo created by the separation between the still water and the ripples. The greenish float breaks that up a bit. Perhaps crop it off? Very nice photo.
