im not crazy about the wide home button, but im calling NO PHYSICAL button for the iphone 5. its going to be a touch screen button

That's dumb. The iPhone's home button actually has a function, to leave apps when you want it too.
If there is a touch button people will activate it while holding the phone in landscape. This is one of my least favorite things about the Android devices I have used.

As saving107 said, this isn't the first time Apple has used a generic phone image.

It's like saying Apple will be releasing a camera because there is an image of a camera on the Photo Stream thing.

was that really worth repeating what he said? lol. weird echo in here.........

well it's just rather close to home since we're close to launch that they'd do that.

Also Saving107 where is that first image from?

Is there any way to calculate the dimensions by using the icon? I am wondering if we can determine the screen size. I sure hope the real iPhone 5 is at least a 4" screen.

You wouldn't be able to because the icon is a certain number of pixels, and the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 will have the same number of pixels, yet if the iPhone 5 has a 4 inch screen, the density of the pixels would simply be lowered, but the number of pixels would stay the same. Therefore you couldn't deduct any information from simply calculating the pixels of the icon.

They're not going to change the aesthetics of the center home button, christ.

The only possible thing is adding some sort of haptic feedback to it for swiping but the button itself will always be that same circle. It would be ridiculous and ugly if they made the button that wide.

And same for the Edge to Edge screen mockup... That's ugly.

Methinks there is a notification light next to the home button.

iPhone 5 Design

Look at the 5:30 minute of the "Introducing iOS 5" video on the Apple wensite.
They are showing us right there what the iPhone 5 will look like!;)

Also Saving107 where is that first image from?

This image was found in March 2008, right before the iPhone 3G was to be released a few months later.

Apparently, it's already possible for iPhone / iPod touch developers to create pages in iTunes offering content to limited groups of users. While perusing these pages, they apparently stumbled upon the Education First Educational Tours page, where international travel tour registrants can download TourCast audio and video content. Strangely, an odd, almost Zune-like device can be seen in the corner of the graphic for this page bearing the Apple logo. Could this be some wild slip? Is what we're looking at a rendering of a new iPhone or touch device, or is this some random mockup meant to suggest a "general" Apple product?

For comparing iPhone/iOS icons, here's the iPhone 4 icon from iTunes 10 and this new possible iPhone 5 icon side by side:

Seems like there is a distinct difference.

Although those pictures don't seem to be right, i do agree, this iPhone 5 icon could easily be used to identify the iPhone in iTunes as well.

We might be on to something legit here. Here's hoping.

I think there is a reason as to why the home button is elongated. I really hope to see LED notifications next to it.

I know I can't really talk untill we see the ACTUAL thing. But I'm not liking this design. It just looks...boxy.

Again, I should hold my tongue till I see the actual product.

"Anyone who wants a bigger screen: prepare to be disappointed. Feel free to quote this when they announce the next phone."

Just wanted to quote u first. And even though this icon means nothing, it's just so damn promising. With or without this icon leak, I still would bet the house iPhone 5 will have a bigger screen.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8L1)

What happened to the front facing camera??

The icon surely looks similar to the IPhone I saw during "sarape night" at certain Mexican restaurant in SF.
