I dunno. If by "giving it a little extra gas" he broke some sort of rule (gas consumption, speed limits, unexpected acceleration without warning air traffic controllers etc.), he actually could get in trouble. I'm only speculating.

Most likely he went a bit faster for perfectly fine reasons and made a joke. Or he didn't go faster at all and made a joke.

Mine isn't on there, it hasn't shipped yet :'(

EDIT: I'm not sure why people think this is stupid. It's interesting to see our beloved devices on their way to our homes.

I think that people "think this is stupid", because you might be misinformed about how the delivery process works. Your device might very well be on this plane, as many are being delivered to the US (and you have seen some rumors of them arriving just after the keynote, before preorder). Once they hit their destination in the US, Apple will break down the pallets and parse the orders from there.

Each one of these flights is probably heavily secured. Imagine the loss value of merchandise if something happened. There's a reason why none of these flights has ever been hijacked or the devices stolen.

How much does insurance cost for that load? That's $136.5 million worth of devices, assuming an ASP of $700.

What's also interesting is that they're not being shipped via UPS/FedEx from the factory, which is what Apple used to do.
That is Price. For insuring, you want Cost. Probably around $300 each.

What!? There's room enough for him to stand in there?! What are those slackers doing!!?!?!

:p

That's the spot reserved for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 units that didn't make it in time for shipment and he's pointing to the pallet of Galaxy S5s to cover next months sales.

I hope you're joking. As it's clear the pilot was joking when he said he gave it some extra gas.

I wonder if he got permission to send out these photos.

He said later in the original thread that he didn't sign an NDA, or non-disclosure agreement. So he's fine.

This is pretty cool. I don't know why so many people are so pessimistic all of the time. Macrumors has hit some pretty low "lows" with what they consider "newsworthy".... and this isn't close to those.

If you don't like things like this, perhaps stay off of the site or at the very least, don't click on the dang article.

It seems to always bee raining for some macrumors members.

Thanks Forum Police

Photos From Inside a 747 Flying iPhone 6 Units to the U.S.

I actually find this kind of stuff *way* more interesting than the normal junk... Every site on the net posts the same specs, rumors, statistics, and press-releases ad-nauseum.

This kind of thing is actually interesting and fairly uncommon.

Jeeze people, if you aren't interested stop clicking and reading and especially commenting...

A small miracle

I preordered the Plus 128 from AT&T at 3:45 am and was given an October 13-22 ship date. Imagine my surprise when I checked the status and it was moved up to 10/02-10/13. Bring it on!

Some of the posters on here have a stick up their @$$ (looking at you gpat/MacSince1990).

The pilot is excited to be a small cog in the machine and is sharing pictures. I'd rather have MR post this than nothing at all.

I couldn't of said it more perfectly. Relax. This is exciting to see the progression.

Each one of these flights is probably heavily secured. Imagine the loss value of merchandise if something happened. There's a reason why none of these flights has ever been hijacked or the devices stolen.

I think you (and many others in this thread) have watched too many action movies and think it's super easy to hijack an airplane.

Also- you need to understand how many flights come in and out of the terminals every day. If one plane is 'heavily secured' with armed guards etc., it will stick out like a sore thumb. It's just not something that happens other than say, Air Force One of course.

Blend in.

Another thing- very expensive cargo is transported every single day. Just because this flight has iPhones doesn't make it any more special than any other flight. No matter how much you want that to be true, it isn't.

The pilot who posted these pictures won't get fired. He and his boss are probably laughing at all who think that's going to happen. It's a cargo flight, not AF One for crying out loud.

And news on MacRumor's has reached an all time low.

Oh Come now, it's not like MR is reporting this story instead of other news.
(maybe I misspoke there, Apple surely must have released the aTV 4, but now we will never know, because they posted this article instead)

It's cool to know a MR reader is one of the pilots, and to see a bit of his part in the process. I like knowing a fellow MR fan is part of the supply chain and this is more interesting to me than most "regular news" out there today. What would you rather MR post instead of this article?
