I really like the champagne version of the new iPhone, but this slate one has me re-considering color choice (if it pans out to be a available color)

Thank you BGR for reporting something useful in the past that I forgot about until I looked it up...

The one on the left certainly isn't black nor "slate." It's also next to that lovely "champagne" color that everyone is in a fizzy  about. And no one back then believed that "champagne" would be a color...

loved white, not so much any more for white 5S since I've been using the white 5 for a year... was thinking about going black this time, no homo:cool:

and then, when gold version rumor came out, iwas like wow, totally gonna get that, until rumor suggests that it will be gold on white plates...it was a meh.

and then, graphite news...in my mine i was like
"whoa!! this is the one!"
"wait...on black plates???"
"I guess either white or black for me this time, no graphite nor champagne"

like the graphite but since I have to keep my phone in a sturdy case (due to regular dropping) I'm not sure I care. When I order if order availability is the same I'd probably choose graphite but probably wouldn't wait an additional two weeks to get one.

So many options now. I'm not even sure which one to go for.
Then again, i will put a cast on it anyway.:)

Anyone prefer their phone without a case?

LOVE the graphite colour. Beautiful with black.

Apple just might convince me to buy the "5S" instead of the "5C". I guess the differentiation (at least in design terms) between them seems quite well done, with this graphite one and the champagne one; very classy.

stop giving me options apple stop ittttt.
Now I'm undecided yet again on color lol

Just when the design couldn't get any worse, they have to put these ugly bars on the top and bottom. It's a shame...the iPhone used to look cool.

So new ugly design and new ugly OS.

PASS!

:(

Graphite looks amazing !!! Definitely the color I'd buy if true. Add me to the list of hopefuls that want this color to be real.

For me i honestly don't see the point in the different colours. Most people will use a case, and probably not a clear one, so all you'll see is the normal black front, unless you have a white one. Plus i really feel that a large amount of the hype this year is the colours, which isn't exactly "innovative"

Hell yes-- that's the exact color combo that I want.

Now, what if--- this replaces the black model due to the chipping/scratching issues?

That's what I was thinking when I first saw it. Another possibility, the gold/champagne replaces the silver trim on the white iPhone. Apple could be doing this to visually differentiate the 5S from the 5. What else can Apple can do to try to overcome the "same look" criticism that 'S' models get. Some people want others to know that they have the latest iPhone and this would help.

I emailed Tim Cook in December last year (without a response) to encourage him to offer a "platinum" version in this iteration of the iPhone. Not only would this be a different color, but have "platinum" features. I can't wait to see if these "graphite", "champagne" or hopefully "platinum" versions offer higher specs than the black/white combination. Went on to discuss some higher spec options, but yeah, no response from Mr Cook.

What do you mean by "higher specs"?

BWUAHAHAHAHA!!! nearly spit my drink. 3 snaps in a z formation! lmfao

God I remember this when they did the skit during the Superbowl years ago. Time flies.

I've been using vinyl wraps to give that same effect since the iPhone 5 was released. If that's a real combo I'll definitely go with it

Nice! I've never heard of "vinyl wraps", I'll have to check it out.

btw nice photo's, love the camera and watch.

I hope so!

Also looks like an edge to edge screen, horizontally.

For doubters: Look at the home button and how much room is left at the bottom and the top of the home button. Basically, the phone itself is the same size as the current iPhone 5, but looks like it will contain a bigger screen. Assuming it'll be the same resolution, just kick off a few PPI.

Is it just me or do the white buttons also look more white than the light silver aluminum on the white iPhone 5?

Edit: Could just be the lighting on the photo, I guess. But still would be nice to see a more uniform white iPhone 5S.

All I really want to know is whether the UI colors adapt to the bezel depending on it's color, because the current color scheme looks out of place on a black bezel.

Last time I checked, this was their flagship phone. I'd rather associate dark blue plastics and a faux-brushed metal look with an inferior product.

Hmmm, I'm not sure where Sony is going with they're design. I think some of their last years mid range phones were quite stylish and original but this is getting tackier IMO. The Playstation 2 is my sony design benchmark.

If the Graphite is an option I will def go for that. It's got that 80s industrial Future look to it. And all I will put on the phone is a screen protector. I won't be getting a case this time.

Agree - If they designed a phone that wasn't a slippery glossy eel, more people would go without a case and color might matter. Not gonna happen when shine sells.

What do you mean by "higher specs"?

Just some features I'd want in an iPhone, which would suit a "platinum" user, and I understand that I would support a different higher class user structure. The features I described to Tim are a wish list, and not really technologically possible yet, I guess, but would hope that the innovative team at Apple thought some ideas were ok, and have some variant of them in development.
Essentially, I want this version of the iPhone to be able to (steal) with user permission, 10% battery power from another iPhone. Simply by magnetically (or otherwise) placing the phones back to back inverted, so the apple logos attached to something in the opposite phone (through technology that doesn't exist) and transmit battery charge to the weaker phone, up to 10%.
Now, because I love an elite class structure, a "platinum" user can obtain 20% from a non platinum iPhone, and with permission ? Maybe not, a "platinum" iPhone deserves it.
