Fair warning, as a longtime contributor (04-08, 09-present), it can get ugly up in here. If anyone gets up in your George Foreman, let me handle it, every newbie needs protection in this joint ;).

Great observations. Have a white 5 (had fair warning the black anodized models experienced color loss), I'll definitely be switching to a graphite 5S if it is released. Good call on the original iPhone comparison, loved that look and have miss the slick, satin aluminum backing.

OT comment and question some of you may find interesting

Been w/ Cingular then AT&T since 2005.

When AT&T began throttling grandfathered unlimited plans in 2011-12 (~ 6 months, oct 11-March 12, for me, never went over 2GB/mo) I gave in and switched to a 3GB/mo plan (I hardly go over 500MB/mo, mostly on WiFi).

Interested in switching, I checked out VZW. Verizon only has family shared plans now. Unlimited talk/text w/ a chosen data plan, $40 per additional line and free tethering/hotspots for up to 10 devices for the same price as my single AT&T plan. Decided on placing my parents and brother on a shared plan (parents are older, ~70, bro is 41, 36 here, do tech work for family). Combined we never went over 1GB/mo in cell data (brothers is a business account, told him to check cell data as he insisted he needed more then realized he mostly used WiFi).

4 individual plans = ~$430/mo.
VZW Shared plan = ~$100/mo + $40 per additional line = $220 (saving ~$210/mo.)

No ETF, BestBuy credits $200 or more for trade-ins.

Any recommendations or things to consider bet. VZW and AT&T?

I was thinking the same with the graphite between two white bars instead of black...but it'll depend on how light or dark that graphite really is.

If these colours are indeed what's unveiled, it's an interesting approach. Rustic and metallic hues for the high end iPhone 5S and bright neon-like colours for lower end iPhone 5C.

Graphite on White and Campagne on Black would look betrer imo

Four colours for the iPhone 5S and five colours for the iPhone 5C. I hope that is all because more would just be too confusing. More importantly, all colours should be available everywhere around the globe because with most Android/WP devices only a few colours are actually available for sale which sucks.

Too confusing to who? A five year old that can't count to ten? Seriously you must be a real idiot if you can't tell the difference between colors!

rip off

Samsung: Oh..that too, We've been working on a graphite phone like... for so long (big cheesy smile)

I agree. Most cases cover the whole back and the sides, leaving only the screen and top/bottom bezel exposed. Neither the color or the material would matter for those users. Unless people want to risk of damaging their phone in order to show off it's colors.

Thats what ive been doing since the version first iPhone. Cases are hideous. They look worse than any amount of scratches you can get on an iPhone (which in my case has always been barely none after a years use)

Someone has my back!

Ha. Up in your George Foreman. Thanks for the backup!

Yeah, I really liked the original design for the iPhone. When they went black and white for the 3G and 3GS, it disappointed me. Looking forward to the reintroduction of the original look if it pans out to be true :D.

Not a bad look. I'll probably go for the champagne just to mix it up, I have a silver/white right now.

That said, if Apple were to offer a copper color... I'd be all over that.

Well, my contract ends in June next year so i think i know what telephone and in what colour i will choose ;).

Graphite iPhone. Dream come true...

I just want one with a bare aluminium side/back and all-black front, giving it the iPhone 4 overall look but in the light aluminium frame of the 5/5S.

I also think the iPhone 4/4S is more beautiful than the iPhone 5. In my opinion, an all black front, black or graphite back, and a steel rim would be the best look for a dark model iPhone. However, this new graphite design seems to be an improvement over the slate iPhone 5. I just hope the rim is lighter than the slate iPhone 5.

I hate Samsung!

I really hate Samsung for their history of parasiting innovation from electronics and appliance companies. They rip off TV, Refrigerator, Computer and Smartphone Tech with a strategy to design their product to look similar to the competitor. With that said, the iphone is in need of innovation. Larger screens appear more luxurious. These skinny width iphone is starting to become outdated. Once cannot easily download or open files on the ihone without the aid of some paid for app. Same goes for easily opening, manipulating MS word Excel documents. Apple singlehandedly awakened the smartphone world to better innovative standards but now becoming outdated before the iphone5 has even launched. Please apple innovate!

I agree with everything you said except for the Excel documents. Have you ever tried to open an Excel document and edit it on any mobile device? It's horrible with anything other than a real computer keyboard and a mouse. i don't care how big the screen is, it's crap on a tablet too

What if the new 5S colors aren't available from AT&T or Best Buy?

Here's a thought. What if the Champagne and Graphite are "Apple Store Only" colors? One of Tim's objectives was to drive more phone business to the Apple stores, and that would certainly do it. Make Slate and White available everywhere, but if you want the new colors, come to or log on to Apple.

Maybe the plan is to hold them back for the first quarter when the feeding frenzy is on, then releasing the new 5S colors to everyone else. That would allow Apple to really pump up it's store phone sales numbers, AND look like good guys bowing to public pressure to make the new color options more easily available to everyone.

Now these leaks are getting to be to much. I like to know whats up but is anything still a secret any more? Just start selling them already. There's nothing left to reveal on the 10th.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. If you don't want spoilers, then don't visit this site. In my opinion, this is a ramification of having Tim Cook be CEO. Not that leaks won't happen under Jobs, it's just Cook is a supply and distribution guy. Under him, the iPhone is distributed in more countries, and more carriers than ever before. When you have such a big network, you end up having more people involved with production. It just means that there's a bigger risk of leaks to occur. If Apple was a smaller company, like it was during Job's tenure then it would be easier to contain leaks. If the iPhone was only available to GSM carriers, then it would be easier to contain leaks. If Apple released the iPhone in waves, instead of making it available to almost all countries on the same day, then there would be less leaks.
