Besides the usual Boy Scout usefulness, what other applications could we see from the compass?
That's a 3G phone.
Honestly, I don't understand why they even include a camera. It's a total piece of **** - especially by Apple's standards.
I have taken more blurry photos than I care to delete.
Steve, you cannot tell me you use the camera for anything useful.
In the third photo on the site, the license plate of the car ahead is from Hong Kong, not China interestingly.
Edit: And now I see it's a HK-based site, still seems odd though. I thought they were made across the border.
Haven't you ever looked at a digital photo you took 10 or so years ago? How was the quality of that picture you took with the latest and greatest quality camera back then? Photos from a mediocre quality camera are there to remind you of a time and place. I think the iPhone's camera is adequate for that reason.

Well, Hong Kong IS China.
lol @people still spitting garbage about wanting a higher MP camera. MP does not = quality. the sensor, lens and software is where the quality is.

Right, but the iPhone camera is dodgy in all those departments. Before I got the iPhone I used SonyEricsson smartphones and a couple of them came with Carl Zeiss optics, courtesy of Sony. I have an old Sony DC from 2002 and it's nothing to write home about in terms of MP, but the pictures have amazing quality... any idiot can point and click with this thing and take a picture of a garbage bin, and the picture will still look like it's a post processed Hasselblad shot straight out of a glitzy coffee table book.lol @people still spitting garbage about wanting a higher MP camera. Wait a sec- why would new iphone guts be in old 3g case?
Is it possible Apple knew engineering samples would be leaked by network testers so they built their test prototypes in old 3g case so as not to give away front facing camera and any external case changes?
I think that is very possible. It is a prototype and the blog does say that this case in no way represents the final look of the iPhone, therefore they didn't bother doing comparison shots. So my only guess would be that if there is video chat and what not, they are probably stillworking on the software for it, which may be one reason why that functionality is not shown in this prototype. Who knows how old the version we are seeing is.
A friend of mine who works at Apple sent me a picture of the new iPhone. However, due to the NDA, I am prohibited to post, or show the picture, but I can explain what it looks. (so you can make mock ups)
Basically, the front is almost identical to the first two generation of iPhone, but with a camera. (which is unnoticeable until a green LED lights up. The camera is the same one used in iSight, so it is very high quality) The back of the new iPhone, well, it's been leaked already so there's no point in me explaining this.
The screen is OLED. At WWDC this year, Apple will announce immediete avalibility of ALL of their Macs, (iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air) with OLED display, making it very environmentally friendly. iPod touch, and iPod classic, and iPod nano will follow this fall.
Apple also made some changes to the location of the headphone jacks and speakers, however, they are deciding on where to put it. To find out, they will be testing out three different design of iPhone. One with headphone jack at the top, and speaker at the bottom (the usual), the Headphone Jack at the bottom, with speaker at top, or the headphone jack at bottom, and speaker the back of the phone (aka, the iPod touch) They will test out comfort of the phone use with headphone, and speakers. The best comfort will be the final design of the phone.

I so wish this is true. But frankly, I don't believe you.
Firstly, OLED in all Macs? I could believe OLEDs in the iPhone and MacBooks (there's a rumor of a 15" OLED coming out this summer, so it lines up), but in the iMacs? I don't think the prices of the OLEDs that size has come down enough for it to be feasible.
And if Apple is still testing the layout of the iPhone even this late in the game, how could they have it ready for launch in June? Even if they're launching in July, this is cutting it extremely close.
Sorry for stating the obvious, but this is fake.
