im actually somewhat willing to believe this...

although its very random to just post it in some thread like this.

the OLED thing sounds very plausible....
Apple just invested a **** ton of money in LG in a partnership to design displays...presumable OLED displays..
they arent that expensive...and the listing on Chinaontrade.com shows the price of the new screen as over twice the cost of the old one (which would be accurate for OLED technology)

apple has commonly brought new technology like this to the marketplace first...we can hope thats the case as far as OLED goes for the new iphone and macs

Apple will not be the first to bring OLED to the market. Its already out there in a couple phones and PMP devices.

A friend of mine who works at Apple sent me a picture of the new iPhone. However, due to the NDA, I am prohibited to post, or show the picture, but I can explain what it looks. (so you can make mock ups)

Basically, the front is almost identical to the first two generation of iPhone, but with a camera. (which is unnoticeable until a green LED lights up. The camera is the same one used in iSight, so it is very high quality) The back of the new iPhone, well, it's been leaked already so there's no point in me explaining this.

The screen is OLED. At WWDC this year, Apple will announce immediete avalibility of ALL of their Macs, (iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air) with OLED display, making it very environmentally friendly. iPod touch, and iPod classic, and iPod nano will follow this fall.

Apple also made some changes to the location of the headphone jacks and speakers, however, they are deciding on where to put it. To find out, they will be testing out three different design of iPhone. One with headphone jack at the top, and speaker at the bottom (the usual), the Headphone Jack at the bottom, with speaker at top, or the headphone jack at bottom, and speaker the back of the phone (aka, the iPod touch) They will test out comfort of the phone use with headphone, and speakers. The best comfort will be the final design of the phone.

DUDE... please don't be toying with our emotions like that... I hope you're being legit... Your account has been active since Dec 07 so I'm gonna give you a little bit more credibility than a newb... But again, if you're just trying to start rumors, don't play with our emotions...

i really want the iphone to have a lock screen with information like weather and the actual txt message readout. i would find this very useful!

i guess this would the software and not the phone but i just wanted to add that.

yes, samsung has several devices with oled, as does sony and ms..and many others..

i should have clarified the fact that i meant apple has brought past technologies to WIDE use...
these current companies are using this technology in only a few products...we can hope that apple brings it to a wider array of devices.
i should always proofread my posts on here at least twice to protect against the idiocy

i think he's trying to XciteU..:D

Oh, thank goodness they decided to put a compass on this rather than a radio reciever. It'll be so useful to the hiking demographic rather than everyone.

Why would they release an OLED iPhone now but hold off the iPod Touch upgrade until this fall? Doesn't make any sense. Sales of the current Touch would plummet to nothing, and an update is long overdue anyway.

I'm not sure I even want an OLED display on a MacBook given that they're still struggling with the lifespan of these displays. With my usage it would be dead after 3 years.

The hiking demographic...?!

A compass will make the Google maps app work a lot better, and will also allow turn-by-turn navigation even at walking speed. This is useful to everyone, including the aforementioned backpacker idiots.

I thought the compass was meant to allow you basic gps functionality when you don't have a signal. :D The fourth gen iphone I heard will come with a can and a string for when you drop calls.

These show nothing. It's mostly pics of the 3.0 software. Show the damn phone, that's what is new. Everyone has already seen pics and video of the software.

If you don't post the picture, you are a liar- a dirty dirty liar. Who has no friends. Clean the photo of any metadata, create a new account here with a brand new gmail account, make sure the photo has nothing identifying of your friend, and post the damn thing. Or I call BS.

Although I do believe you- I just want to see someone finally break the NDA :)

In the third photo on the site, the license plate of the car ahead is from Hong Kong, not China interestingly.

Edit: And now I see it's a HK-based site, still seems odd though. I thought they were made across the border.

Shenzhen is just across the water over a spectacular bridge from HK and you see HK registered cars everywhere in Shenzhen- they all go across for business, cheap shopping and to go to the spas. Foxconn is only an hour from HK so it could easily be in Shenzhen.

According to the source DigiTimes, the five largest producers of printed circuit boards, has already begun to deliver components and schemas for new models of iPhone.
Companies Nanya Printed Circuit Board and Tripod Technology officially confirmed this news, as the company reported that most likely the new iPhone will go on sale in mid-July.

Can't the accelerometer detect this already?

No, the accelerometer can only detect Gradient when it's side is parallel to the ground. A Magnetometer can detect movement when the back of the phone is parallel to the ground, like a compass, hence the name.

How would a built-in radio be of use for anyone?
At least where I live (Germany and Hong Kong) you can receive almost any radio station for free over the internet. That's enough for the iPhone. No FM receiver needed. Bring on the compass (and augumented reality)!

Do you work for Apple? If you don't, then by releasing photos, you are not breaking any NDA. Apple can't do anything to some random non-employee leaking a photo because you never signed any NDA.

Your friend, otoh, already broke the NDA. He must not like his job at Apple. If it was me, I don't think I would be messing around with my career like that.
