i've been saying this since last year:

PowerMac became Mac Pro
PowerBook became MacBook Pro
iBook became MacBook

therefore...

iMac (should become) Mac

makes sense doesn't it?
Actually by this way of thought iMacs should be called MacMacs.
Anyway, i believe the i will never leave this name, if iPhone came out now, theres no reason to spoil things!

I want to see new hardware!

these are all well and nice...but for the love of....let me see some hardware!

I'm a little disappointed. These posters are surely focusing on Time Machine, which we've known about for a year. If that's the 'big feature' in Leopard, Monday will be a big anti-climax for me :(

Here's hoping that I'm talking out of my rear end ;)

How do we know its time machine..... it doesnt look like it

The name change was just to make sure all Apple computers had "mac" in their name. iMac will stay iMac.

"Expand Your Universe" means Project Chameleon is here within Leopard -- the ability for Leopard to run windows applications natively.

Are you getting it? Are you getting it? Are you getting it? Haha

that's odd. i don't see any hidden banners either...oh wait....

LOL n1.

Anyone yhink apple is kicking themselves in the teeth a bit here?
leopard is really cool, it does this and this and this and you cant live with out it. All that buzz, but its not ready! Ouch. If i was apple i would downlplay te leopard slightly and open iphone to developers, and throw in a product announcement to take attention away from the nonexistant leopard.

my prediction

Steve's main points...

1) Leopard has ZFS (ok, not much of a preduction I know)
2) iPhone SDK with some "approval/sale process"
3) Lower cost Mac Pro's

So maybe the kill the Mac-Mini off and introduce a Mac (can't be pro.. thats taken) it is half the height of the Mac Pro and not as deep, but allows for a real graphics card and runs the same cpus as the MBPs, so it doesn't compete against the Mac Pros. Think mini-atx vs atx form factors.

2.2 - 2.4 GHz CD2
2 ram slots (max 4GB)
1 HD bay (with a 160GB drive)
1 Superdrive or combo
3 USB ports on back, one on front
2 Firewire 400 ports (one front, one back)
1 headphone jack on front
1 audio out on back
2 PCIXXXX slots (1 used for real gfx card) - Nvidia 7600 256mb
wifi, bluetooth..remote.. did I miss anything?

I would so buy one of these in a hurry.

That would be a very boring keynote

Now begins the never ending four days wait for Leopard revelation! Eternity! Can't wait! How can I fast forward?!

Click and hold the rightmost button on your apple remote. Just make sure you're pointing at the mac, or it won't work.

iPod -> Pod?

No, no, no... as Zoran pointed out with the MacMac, it would be MacPod?!?!?!?

I agree with those who argue that there will never be a dropping of the i from iMac. Not to say there won't ever be another computer just called 'Mac', but I would put just as much liklihood in a MacHome media center computer, or something like that.

Either way, given this is the developer conference, and is geared for...developers, I'm not holding my breath for new hardware.

True, they must have more than just essentially what we already know or are speculating (ZFS, iPhone dev kit, etc...) or else they would have killed time announcing the new MacBooks and MBPs.

Even without hardware, I'm still intrigued and excited and will be patiently waiting at TPB for the torrent to emerge of leopard.

Ahem...Just kidding of course...Or am I?

What's TPB?

Kidding of course.

Think there will be an extensive preview of Leopard going over the features previously mentioned and the new top secret ones.

I can't wait for Leopard *giddy*

Especially after having to rebuild a file I accidentally deleted ... grrrr

An 'X' covering a 'Sun', ZFS and DTrace in OS X...

I herby predict that Apple will ditch the Mach kernel and replace it with the Solaris one in Leopard.

Far fetched I know but they'd be much better positioned to move to a massive multi-core word without expending so much on R&D. Solaris runs happily on 256 core boxes I doubt the Mach kernel scales so well.

How would this effect the end-user?

Could this be a reason to delay Leopard further?

Believe me - I was being MAJORLY flippant!!!!!
