Been looking for a way to make Emoji awkward and difficult--a way that won't support new emojis and limits me to some common ones chosen by someone else.

For $109.95 plus tax and shipping, my dream can come true!

I'd rather have one with reaction gifs.

For instance, quick access to this would have come in handy for this article.

I say <emoji key>+<left shift>+P to this!
An emoji key actually isn't that bad of an idea. I find myself hunting for "that one specific special character" with option/option+shift, but I've internalized the ones I use frequently. I'm sure it wouldn't be that much more confusing (heck, even a dropdown menu on keypress would be nice).

Disclaimer: I barely use emoji. I'm mostly just looking at this from a usability perspective.

They could've just made this one of those skin overlay things that sell for like $15 -- at that price you could imagine someone buying it for a novelty or a gag gift, but at $80-100? Nice try.

A keyboard with 'pile of poo' on the 6-key just tells you everything you needed to know.

Edit: ok, macrumors. You need to upgrade your software to fully support emoji ready for when mine arrives.
Macrumors doesn't need to support it, the browser does. In this case you are probably using Chrome, which doesn't have as much support as Safari does.

No kidding.

It should really be on the 2-key.

Seriously, what the **** is wrong with Apple and these stupid Emojis? I seriously don't get how Emojis are more important than performance and productivity issues... I have never met even ONE person who uses these Emojis.

Why this takes priority?!

Uh... Apple isn't the company making this keyboard... it's a third party that's doing it.
You're getting upset at the wrong company.

Uh...read my post again. I don't care about this keyboard, and I am not even talking about this keyboard.
And if you see the recent updates, one of Apple's "MAJOR" updates are Emojis...seriously?

@MVPA
You're posting in a thread talking specifically about the keyboard in the article.
IT IS ONLY LOGICAL TO ASSUME YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE THREAD TOPIC.

I don't know what the hype about Emojis is, I hardly ever see anyone use them, and even if they do it's just the regular old smiley face or one or two of its variations. Everything else and I'm just like "what are you trying to say?"...

will someone make a version that can be retrofitted in a mbp? kit with all the keys perhaps? i would buy one, that would basically make it un-stealable.

Precisely. There are moments I wish I had an "Emoji to English" translator.

Bring wired keyboard with USB 3.1 Type C (reversible) Generation 2 hub (2 ports).

That update had more than emoji. They just said something about it because that's something that gets press.
