I understand that women carry purses anyway and that they often engage in a lot of social web activity (at least the teens and uni age ones). So I respect that there is a market for these things.

But good god I can't imagine having to take some device this big with me everywhere I go. My 4.2" screen phone is already a little too big for me, and I have somewhat large hands.

I miss phones for making telephone calls not facebooking. It's amazing how quickly people have decided that smaller isn't better and that they want to be tethered to iPads everywhere they go.

I personally don't see it as being that big. Maybe I will feel different when I see it in person. I wonder if the Apple security dude will freak out when I try to test how it fits in my pocket at the store?!?

I would really like to just use one device, and I'm not sure if the bigger iPhone will negate my need for reading on the iPad mini.

I also have to say that the protruding camera on my iPod touch isn't really an issue. The lip around it even seems to be protecting the camera from scratches.

The protruding camera is not an issue because most people use a case and then it is flush. Will the Iphone 6 5.5 be able to dunk?( basketball ). It's going to be tall.

I'm not sure how I feel about the camera sticking out like that.

Or is that the new, ergonomic power button?

The iPad nano remark is likely spot on. The reason for the later intro is that the 5.5 inch version will be launched at the iPad, iPod event. It is likely an iPod XL with optional LTE and a phone app. A true tablet phone, and it will be marketed as such, not an iPhone. It will share materials with the iPod and be cheaper to manufacture than the iPhone 6. It will be very popular in China and allow more pricing flexibility. The iPhone 6 will be very high end and likely more expensive than today's models. The 5S will likely be replaced by the 5SC.

So tired of the "It's too big crowd." Here's a novel idea, don't get the bigger model!?! First off, too big for what? Why don't you put the little hipster, skinny jeans back in the closet, most people I see wearing those jeans are neither skinny, nor hip, so what's the point? Furthermore, for those exclaiming "I may as well be holding an iPad to my head:" 1.) You shouldn't be making phone calls in public anyway (so don't worry about what it looks like)! I swear ... this generation ... do you realize how annoying it is to be around people flapping away with a private conversation as though the strangers around you really want to hear what you have to say? We don't. 2.) The majority of us use our phones to interact and engage with media - hence, bigger screens are a must. Phone calls? What is this, 1999? Calls should be short, sweet, and to the point. No, I don't want a tiny screen to compensate for the activity I use my iPhone 3% of the time. A HUGE screen that I can enjoy for the other 97% of the time? Yes please! This concludes today's public service announcement. *I'm serious about the Jeans people ... give it a rest.

I wish we could just wait for it to be released so they don't ruin the surprise.. but then again, these leaks could be wrong

I am not sure where I read the story but about a week or so ago I read an opinion that Apple has grown too big to contain leaks surrounding their products. And I hate to say it but I agree with the story. Unfortunately it really does ruin the product announcement whether or not these leaks are true.

don't understand the camera protruding like that but hopefully this isn't it

Larger pixels require longer focal length requires more overall depth. Thinner phone with thicker camera requires the phone to have a nipple where the camera resides. I just hope the protruding lens is well protected from scratches.

Every time I read about larger iPhones, I'm reminded of this image posted during the rumors of the new iPad. You want a massive phone? Use FaceTime audio on an iPad and have fun. Otherwise, 5.5" for a mobile phone is ridiculous.

Could Optical Image Stabilisation also have something to do with it as well?

Electronic Image Stabilisation for the iPhone 'Air' and Optical for the iPhone 'Pro'.

I agree.
If slightly protruding cameras is the price we have to pay for super-slim phones, I'm fine. It doesn't bother me at all on the iPod Touch — when buying one for my son a little over a year ago I remember thinking that one day the iPhone would come in a design similar to it. And that it would be awesome. Looks like that day is approaching fast.

I can see the appeal of a 'phablet'. In many countries this is a person's only device, and its going to sell big time there, as do the Samsung models now.
For me, the 4.9" (or whatever) might be appealing because of my old eyes, but if I want big, I'll use my iPad.

Okay one thing for sure people calm down look at the current trends in Apple tech. The iPad Air and Mini have larger bezels yes they do, but do they actually make the device itself larger no they don't. Do the iPads have tremendously worse battery life than other tablets No.

What I'm saying is basically if Apple can do this with the iPad they can with the Iphone don't worry, and damn near every other smartphone out here has a protruding camera and somehow Apples going to have the worst camera of all time doubtful.

Honestly Apple is the only smartphone maker that's attempting anything it may be thin but how do we know how big a battery it will have if it's 2400 mah they will have all day battery trust. They can get you through a day with 1500 now if you add 900 a better more efficient processor and more efficient yet bigger screen and a much bigger battery we will be fine.
