I'm guessing the Ship to Store thing is exclusive to the US because I never saw that...

The stores will be a madhouse but I don't care as long as I get my phone as scheduled.

And lol, I hope a reserved phone DOESN'T get given away to someone waiting in line because that's 100% unfair. It's mine ready to be picked up. If I don't come in time, it's THEN they should give it away.

I've done in store pick up before. They make two lines. They let the people who have pre-orders get their phones first. In fact the pre-order is linked to the specific device that you get. You'll learn that when you get your emails telling you to pick up your phone.

That is kinda sweet, except that "linked" device may be faulty. Hope they replace it for me on the spot otherwise it's no different than just ordering online.

It's complete with the part number. I checked last time and they matched...

If I cancel my online order, this will be my first time arranging a pickup from store (obviously) so I'm a bit lost with the "part number" you mentioned. I have an email reading that my iPhone has been reserved but no special numbers or anything on it. Just tells me what to bring and the location of my pickup.

The most important thing is will they be able to change my phone on the same day IF the phone I got was faulty? If they can, that's a huge advantage over online orders.

I think faulty iPhone unlikely

I think faulty iPhone unlikely. If you find something wrong it may take a little time while you're using it normally to surface. I bet it's very rare to have one that won't boot up though or work though.

Good point. I have bought 5 iOS devices over the years, none of them were faulty and even my family's iOS devices had no fault on them either.

But I still have to make a decision. If you were in my boots - you are *guaranteed* (well almost, if you look at the disadvantages below) to get your iPhone on launch day, on *both* routes.

Pick it up from the retail store, or have it delivered to your door?

The only disadvantages I can think of being delivered to your door is 1 - that your package can arrive late at night, 2 - you maybe somewhere in the house that you didn't hear the guy knock and the driver leaves a note and 3rd the worst of it all, someone steals your iPhone during delivery (rare but possible)

Haha, yeah that experience would be awesome but at the same time I want my phone in one peace. I'll be pissed if I gone all through that experience, ONLY to get a faulty phone.

Nope, if you order a phone online for in store pickup, they physically hold that phone just for you, and put it in a separate location away from other phones. It's held exclusively for you and is not given away to anyone else, as long as you pick it up within a few days.

Some people doing pick-up have reservation numbers, others have actual order numbers. I have an order number, acquired through the Apple Store App last night with pickup scheduled at the closest Apple Store. Based on my past experience with these launches, having an order number is basically a lock on the order. They should have one for you when you go in. I mve never done the reservation number thing, so I really don't know how that differs from having an actual order in hand.

Reserve numbers were given out this morning during preorders when the Apple Store couldn't connect to the carrier sites. It held a phone for you until a point Apple sent you an email saying you can purchase an iPhone. If you have an order number starting with W you should be good. If you have a reserve number starting with B, a phone will held until a certain time, looks like mostly 9/13 9 AM PST during which you can place an order. If you walk into a store on the 19th with only a B Reserve Number you will not have a preordered phone.

1. Does anyone know if we're replacing an existing iPhone on our Verizon 2 year contract by paying full price and we did store pickup, when we pick it up in store, do we have to actually activate the iPhone 6+ in store, or can we wait to activate it when we get home?

2. Also, would we need to switch SIM cards, or how does this work?

Does anyone know if they can just scan the outside of the sealed iPhone 6+ box without opening it, and it will activate it in the system, and then you can take it home to complete activation without having to do so in-store?

I placed my order at apple.com for store pickup. I got an email that says "processing order" does that mean my order went through and ill have an iphone on the 19th(it says pick-up date 19th) or is there another email to confirm the order went though

Yes, that is correct. That email serves as your order confirmation. You'll receive another email when it's ready in the store to pickup.

please someone help me. I have a reservation, but I cannot continue because I have a business account. Is there anything I can do to purchase the phone even though I have a Verizon Business account on Apples site? Can I like start a completely different personal account to buy it, but then just cancel the plan at the store and buy it for a different number?

Yes I confirm this info with Apple online chat customers service.

1. CSRep: "If you did a BOPIS which is: Buy Online Pickup In Store aka Personal Pickup, then your iPhone 6 Plus will be there."

-- Great! No any other customer can touch your pre-ordered iPhone 6 plus. It's yours.

2. CSRep: "There will be a separate pickup line for the customers that were quick on the trigger and pre-ordered first. I think that's cool. Customers that pre-ordered should have a different line." "There will still be a huge crowd, but you'll be moving a lot faster than everybody else."

-- 2 different lines confirmed too. But from my previous experience, the pre-order line will be long as well. Since no one can take my phone away I'll go there later in the afternoon.

3. CSRep: "We were never given specific times for the September 12 pre-ordering in the U.S."

-- ok

Wish this is helpful and wish everybody good luck with the Personal Pickup experience! I personally got the iPhone 6 Plus, 64G, Space Gray. 9/19 In-store pickup @Apple Store, Mission Viejo, CA

Thanks for the info. The only thing left is that when will apple charge our credit card...

You might have to go through Verizon, not sure. Have you called your Verizon business rep?

I did in-store pick up when the original iPhone 5 came out. It is a fairly simple process. You don't get a specific time when you can pick up your item, they send you an email or text when it is ready for pickup. If its a preorder its most likely they send you the message the night before or morning of. You won't see a charge on your card until maybe a couple of days before but most likely you won't, there is a final swipe at the end of the transaction for you to officially get charged.

Lastly.... it won't be a mad house for those who preordered. There will be 2 lines: one for walk-ins/campers and one for preorders. The craziness happens to those who lined up for hours overnight and things don't go their way: don't have the exact model/color they want, carrier isn't allowing them to upgrade, problems with their card.

If you have an order number, and an email saying its processing, you'll be fine.

The phone that you reserved is linked to that account only with the conditions that you selected: upgrade, plan selection. If you go to the store, they will not allow you to change the conditions of it or the account you're buying it for. You will have to cancel it and they cannot put the phone immediately back in their stock until it is reconciled by someone in the back. You will have to buy from their current available stock.

Excellent clarifying info. Mine is an order number starting in W.
