Pickup from UPS store

I've done this every year. I really don't like having an expensive item sitting in my driveway if I am away. Works like a charm. Don't forget your ID when you go to UPS. Also it is best to pick it up at UPS distribution center as opposed to a UPS retail store.
A UPS Store will usually add an extra day if it's not one of those shipping/receiving hubs or whatever they are called. Be careful if you want it on launch day. I'm sure someone else will know the name for the locations that don't cause an extra day to be added.

My cousin Sal had a delivery go "missing' last xmas from a UPS store. There was a tall guy who worked there that was acting very strange when he went to pick up.
I meant if you choose a retail store. It added a day for me the one time I did this option.
I did this with my Apple Watch in April 2015. Then I just picked it up the morning of on my way to work. No waiting for the watch all day and no worrying that I won't be there to sign for it or that it'll sit outside my door all day.

Yes, it can and most likely will unless you choose a hub. When you click to select one of the stores, it will tell you the available for pick up date. For mine, it was showing Monday pick up at stores vs Friday AM at the hub. Make sure to check the pick up date before you select ANY alternate location for UPS.

Guys, I am ordering the first year and not very familiar in re-routing the package. Now my home address is specified. Could you please explain how I can re-route the package to the hub? Should I do it before shipping or only after I got "shipped" notice and understand my package really goes through UPS?

It's on the screen after you choose a location (the same one you click "finish" on). It should say "Package Available:" below the address/hours for the location you've selected.
You can do it when the tracking shows up in your MyChoice account. Click on the yellow "change delivery" button and you'll be able to choose "pickup my package at a UPS location". This is where you select your location. Make sure you choose carefully as Hubs will usually have your package the day of your scheduled delivery but UPS stores may have different (later) dates shown.
I do this quite frequently for UPS packages that require a signature. I usually pick up the package at my local distribution center since it's right near where I live. I also had a package delivered to a UPS retail location and I didn't have any issues. Also, I find it highly unusual that UPS would add a day to your package if you change delivery to a retail store.
It gets to be hubs first thing in the morning so it's available early. It goes to the retail stores on the truck routes so it might not get there til afternoon or evening. Then the store might not have it "ready" until the next day.
Yep. I'm not willing to take the chance when UPS tells me it won't be available until Monday. It *may* actually be there on Friday and they *may* let me pick it up, but it's not worth it to me. I'll either wait for delivery on Friday or travel to the hub.
And if I don't have a My Choice account?
I will be receiving it in Germany - country which I am not a resident of. Is it possible to do it by phone? or may be it's possible to find out the central hub in particular city and come there when they open in the morning and grab the package before it gets to courier?
The hub is the best option and has the least chance (very unlikely unless there's some sort of mess up) of a delay. If you choose a UPS retail store, it's quite possible that the delivery could be delayed as late as Monday. I've always chosen my local hub and have been able to pick it up when the doors open. Since you've already chosen to have it delivered to a retail store, you may not have the option to change it back to the hub online: you might have to call.
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with how to do without MyChoice and in Germany. You could call them and see what they say. Do you have tracking information yet? If not, I'd wait until you have tracking.
Interesting. How do you do a release? Is that via UPS or Apple? I work very close to to my house so I can just pop in and get it when delivered.

I seem to recall UPS My Choice having an option for your deliveries to release without signature. Once it shows up in your UPS My Choice take a look and see if you can find an option.
Sounds good thanks! Yeah I've tried all the reference tracking options with the phone number/order number nothing shows up yet though it is "Preparing for shipment" since Friday
Can I cancel the pickup if I have chosen one and just let it get dropped to the door again if I change my mind?
