I've found that doing this requires a call usually. Too many changes online and it gets all wonky. I'd not tempt fate lol
I am picking it up in the morning than waiting until lunch when the ups track usually drives by. 
That's the only place I would have it delivered. It helps that UPS drops off at the UPS store here first thing in the morning. I usually get my ready to pickup text prior to the store opening.
Like others mentioned reroute to a distribution center. Stay away from the UPS Stores some shady cats work there a buddy of mine is one of em' hehe. Service hours is another thing some close doors at lunch time and some Ground services don't run Saturday's call to confirm.

Yea I'm trying not to lose my Friday delivery lol they said I have to wait until it arrives at the CC it will reside at until delivery. Launch week always has me nuts
What you're looking for is a UPS Customer Center. They require an ID with the exact name AND address on it.

If you have a UPS My Choice, you can add members to your account or nicknames that you may receive packages for. If that doesn't work, you should still be able to call and very address and account over the phone and then be able to get the package rerouted or delivered to local UPS Hub. Just be sure to bring your ID!
Had totally forgotten about this option. Switched to pick up at the CC a while ago. No luck switching shifts at work and I don't trust that phone to be sitting around my apartment complex.

Just added her name on UPS mychoice and requested to hold for pick up (I did the pick up under my name when requesting it online). That should be good as long as I have my ID right?
I have mine being shipped to a UPS store in my town. It would seem strange that it would be shipped later to the same town. I don't recall seeing any delivery date when I set this up and I'm reluctant to change it now for fear of messing it up. However, when I go to the UPS My Choice calendar and highlight the shipment it says:

I would think that based on the above, especially since the scheduled delivery says "Updated" it should still be delivered on Friday. I'm not sure what the phrase "delivery to a UPS access point location is pending" means, unless it just means it hasn't been delivered yet? Thoughts?

Yes should be good to go.
Usually it takes less than 24 hours for your delivery request to be approved, so it sounds like it's just processing. After that it should move back to normal status after your request has been processed.
Yes. You can always deliver to a UPS Store as well. Contrary to what others have said here, my experience has always been excellent with these as well. I have a UPS Store right up the street from my house and whenever I change delivery of a package to that location, it's always there on the normal day it would have been delivered just a few hours earlier, comes in handy if I know I'll be at work or need to sign for it.
This. I changed mine to pick up at the UPS store 1.1 miles away from my house. My packages usually are ready for pickup around 10am versus waiting until they reach my home which is around 1-2pm.
The hours for my customer center start at 10am anyways and that place is a 15 min drive.
Hopefully the iPhone orders don't delay my package from reaching the UPS store early, so I'm not stuck waiting around all day.
I just got off the phone with UPS. It will typically take an extra busines day to get the package from the client center to the UPS store because the package needs to be relabeled. However, most of the iPhones are actually delivered early and then held. For example, my package is currently in Kentucky and is expected to be delivered to the client center tomorrow. If that happens, it should get to the UPS Store on Thursday, although it may be held and not delivered until Friday. For me, the bottom line is if it gets to the client center tomorrow, I should be in good shape, although you never know. I would think that most of the iPhones would work this way.
Mine was also saying that, but then I kept getting "Exceptions" texts from UPS so I called. They ultimately told me that the place I wanted to pick it up wasn't available. I changed it to another, but it gave an estimated Monday delivery, EVEN THOUGH THE TRACKING STILL SAID FRIDAY. The rep said it may get there Friday, but also it could be Monday, so to avoid any risk, I just switched it to "Hold for pickup" and so I'll go to the UPS CC to pick it up Friday. It's a half hour trip, but it at least should ensure I get it Friday.
To be extra sure, I would also bring along the tracking numbers. I called UPS yesterday to confirm I could do exactly what you are asking and they said yes but the rep recommended I also bring along the tracking numbers to be safe.
Completely dependent on the CC. Mine opens at 8. I went one year at 8 on iPhone launch day and there were 30-40 people in line waiting to pick up their phones. Now, I go around 10am and the crowd is down to a few people.
Hmm... I have not received any texts. I have the notifications turned on. I was trying to change it again to hold at the hub, but it's not letting me. I'd hate to change it again anyways and mess stuff up. I'll just hope for the best. My phone is in KY and still saying Friday at the UPS store. We'll see
Mine is also in Kentucky and has been since Monday. If it moves tonight you should be fine. If it doesn't get delivered to the hub until Friday, it may get pushed to Monday. To change delivery, I've had more luck under the My Choice calendar
