2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Actually, the driver is a living example of that joke about BMW's and porcupines. He finally let me pass after I spent a lap trailing him closely while he was shown the passing flag a couple of times, and finally after I flashed my brights at him. My lap time dropped by 6 seconds after I got around him. Here's some video of the laps in question:

Fwiw, depending on the other driver, I do pretty well against any M car in the dry too. Unless the thing is caged and on r-comps, in which case my little grocery getter probably won't stand a chance.

Yep. I was going to keep the 330 but even with all its mods it was slower than the R. And then I started modding the R...

All good, i was just kidding ;) he is really slowing you there, and that is surely not only the driver! I had a Golf GTI before my BMW and loved the heck out of it :) is that your daily driver?

Drove an 09 Interceptor for my Department as my last squad car before upgrading to the 2015 Ford Interceptor. The Crown Vic was one of the toughest cars I have ever driven and it never broke on me once. I drive a twin turbo V6 Interceptor for work now and I still prefer the Crown Vic today, which was also very comfortable for long shifts.

I was the 3rd car on track in this session. The guy in front was driving an RS4 that he was really pushing hard all weekend. Then the M4, then me, then an S3. I let the S3 pass me on the second lap. The S3 driver had his traction control off and was pushing his car pretty hard, and I think the M4 guy let him pass on lap 2 as well. I'm a somewhat cautious driver so I left my electronic nannies turned on all weekend. No one else wanted to pass me during this session.

This car is my daily, yes. Fwiw, it has an APR stage 1 tune (est 324whp/347 wtq - it is going on a dyno this Saturday), Neuspeed intake, APR TCU tune, Ground Control camber plates (-2.5 deg), Ground Control coilover conversion kit (475# front springs/650# rear vs est. 425/525 OEM spring rates), 24mm solid rear sway, and currently Ferodo DS2500 front pads and Porterfield R4-S rear pads on stock rotors. I will be installing Superpro lower control arms, their poly rear trailing arm bushings, and Carbotech XP10 fr/XP8 r brake pads next month. Bilstein is coming out soon with Damptronic shocks for the car that are plug and play with the dynamically adjustable shock system the car came with, and that is about the only mod on my mod radar right now. I imagine that after 19 track days and counting on this car, the original shocks are getting kind of tired anyway.

And, because this is a post in a picture forum :)

Are you a police officer or work for a police department?

If not, I cannot stand people that buy these. Not to say you are a bad person, but there are a handful of people in my town that drive these and they tailgate and speed. People assume they're cops because at quick glance while driving most cannot spot the differences between civilian / cop. I know most police departments are moving away from this design but my town still has a handful of these still on patrol without the lightbars on top so they are harder to spot.

Again, not bashing you lol. Just noticing a trend out on the road with these cars.

No, I am nor a LEO...yet. I am in college for criminal justice, but that is besides the point. Most importantly, I am a car enthusiast. I was drown to the crown vic for their durability, power (they aren't fast, but thanks to 3.27 rear gears, they're quick), and handling over the civilian model (civilian has air ride suspention, sits lower to the ground, has lazy suspension, and lazy steering.) I went into buying it NOT wanting to look like, or impersonate an officer. Plus, my local departments colors are blue and white, so I don't get mistaken for an officer in a black car.

Btw I am on a CV group on Facebook, and there are people (civilians, not officers) that have light bars, sirens, bars over the windows, and partitions between the front and rear seats. THOSE are the CV owners that give people like me a bad name.

Funny you say that. My fiancee went through college for criminal justice and he's currently a LEO. He also favors the Crown Vic and was disappointed in their choice of the Tahoe and Taurus in his department.

I don't think having the car is a problem. It's when they've got all the gear as you said. Then it's unacceptable really.

Couldn't agree more! When civilians start putting strobes, bars, and light bars, it becomes unacceptable. On the group I'm in we call them "whackers" lol.

I also couldn't agree more with poor choice by most department to replace the CVPI with the Taurus and Tahoe. My local department seems to be favoring the Ford Explorer over anything else. I predict that most police vehicles will be SUVs in the near future. I'm a huge Ford fan, but the Taurus and Explorer just doesn't compare to the durability of the CVPI :D

Easy solutions are to speed up or move over. Don't be part of the problem.

See, that shocks me. Because when a Police Department retires a squad car. They strip all the light bars, electronic devices, prisoner cages, etc. out of the squad cars. I don't know or ever heard of any department that would never remove the equipment for cost related and liability concerns when retiring a squad car. I have worked for three different police departments in my state and I've never seen a squad car sold with Police equipment inside of it. Unless you're telling me the civilians are outfitting the squad cars with light bars and what have you from online, in some cases, that's illegal and begging for negative contacts with the Law, which would result in criminal sanctions. But if it is equipped with a light bar, that's for off-road use only unless it's an officially licensed government vehicle.

Anyways. There is a huge market for Crown Victoria's because they are relatively cheap and the parts are affordable. But the problem is they are usually battered and beaten up bad from police departments. The reason they were pulled off the roads from Departments early on was issues with exploding gas tanks in the back of the car from other peoples crashing into it and N.H.S.T.A advised they were not meeting safety requirements for Officers anymore.

And the Ford SUV interceptor and Taurus interceptor are great cars. The all-wheel-drive factor and most of the county squads in my area are twin turbo charged. Which is more than off power to get up and go.

About the light bars (and other accessories), they are stripped from the departments. The thing is, they are legal to have on your vehicle as long as you do not use them on public roadways and they are not red and/or blue. But what ticks me off about people on my FB group is that the only reason they want that crap is because its a CVPI. They wouldn't put it on something like, say, a civic or something like that.

They usually are beaten up, but I got lucky with mine :D It was a supervisor's car. it only had 57k miles and 1640 idle hours when I got it. I agree that the new Taurus and Explorers are good for the AWD, but I would like to see if they become known for their durability like the CVPI has. I already know the Taurus and Explorer are better than the Dodge Chargers lol.

About the CVPI's gas tank exploding, yeah that was a problem lol. The GM B-bodies had the same problem. Ford did shield the gas tank from the rear axle in later revisions, and even offered a fire suppression system.

My opinion, civilians who are not Government officiated, shouldn't be allowed to have light bars in retired squads. But they're for off-road use only by law. UnFortunately, eBay/Amazon sells light bars to be installed on cars, which I don't agree with either. Most law-enforcement websites that sell tactical and or law-enforcement gear, actually require you to have a department ID when ordering regulated law-enforcement equipment.

Holy smokes, that's a clean 3KGT, looks like some nice custom work too.
Lots, and lots of custom work. lol I think I have like 15+ hours into sanding my front valve cover alone for polishing. Its getting some substantial upgrades and changes this year, so I'm quite excited to warm weather to roll around here in Minnesota. I won't flood the post with images, but here's a little more detailed picture with the hood closed.

What are you pushing for horsepower/torque? Do you participate in car shows at all?

Nice. I can *really* appreciate the work under the hood, I had a 4th Gen Supra, and spent a ton of time/effort/money getting the engine bay done. Everything polished, wiring harnesses all relocated, everything rubber replaced with matching blue hoses, blue anodized parts, aftermarket strut braces, battery covers, radiators, a little touch of carbon fiber - it's a ton of work, but the results can be pretty spectacular!

Like you, don't want to derail, but here's my Supra's engine:

Since you know imports, you can probably tell the factory TTs were long gone :D
