Hopefully this is a First!

Ping is the new Social Network from iTunes! And is described at Facebook meets Twitter Meets iTunes! it works by creating your own profile and follow your favourite people such as Artists, Bands, and freinds.

If you would like People To follow you Simply place your name and hometown and youll be easily finadable on iTunes.

current status : Facebook Integration is missing.

I find Ping to be totally uninteresting for me, at least for the moment. I searched for my favorite Interpreters and Bands and they are still not registered with Ping. I would expect from Apple that they would have everyone on board on launch...

I searched for Scorpions, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Nightwish...
 
Yeh, only band I have managed to follow that I like is Linkin Park.
I've added/followed you now Dave but I really don't know how to use this thing...at all... Guess I'm just gonna have to play around with it and try and figure out what on earth is going on.

Damn...just tried adding my favourite podcast to the Music I Like and I can't do it. It's not music...but I still want people to see that I listen to it. Needs to be added :)
 
You are correct artists wise there is not much ATM, but hopefully more freinds can make up for it in the meantime,

It's very like twitter, with the like and comment features of facebook :)
 
I think it should have a "Now Listening To..." section if you go to someone's profile...
 
They shoulda had that in it Phazon! Hopefully theyll update it :)

Ps anyone notice that it's takin buckin years for the profiles photos to be approved?
 
well since it's only publicly 10 hours old or so, am not fussed that not everyone is on there right now. guessing over the next couple of months more will appear and there will be more functionality, i thought we could make our own statements, but at the mo it looks like this is only artists?
 
You can indeed at comments, click on your profile, then click add a comment at the bottom I think it is ( it's like that on iPhone anyway)

Agreed. Based on what I have seen thus far, you can only post and like things within the iTunes store. Which is pretty lame if you ask me, considering I don't usually sit on my laptop browsing the iTunes store, I'm usually just listening to my music, shocking I know, using iTunes to listen to your music library.

They definetly need to add a "Now Listening to" as part of peoples profile.

I set my account up last night and the pic was approved in 5-10 minutes.

But still nothing worthwhile to do on this yet because most people I know had no idea that apple even had their event yesterday.

*sigh*
 
big thing on the home page about facebook & ping!
