One thing I'm finding to be stupid is that alot of people set their profiles to private. The whole reason why I search for friends is to see what music they listen to. How am I supposed to see what music they listen to if their profile is private?

That's crazy! Personally i keep my profile open. Music is for sharing 🙂
You mean an 86-character word, hun?How did you manage to reduce the url to just one word?😕
I know what you guys mean. I think it's okay to have to be honest. How would you like it if you went to school the next day and the kids started to make fun of you for liking such and such band or artist? It's good for the teenagers anyway. I had lots of friends go through stuff like that, especially when it came to LiveJournal and Xanga back in the days.
But yes, sharing music is great!
I think the service in general is struggling to much outside "mass music". The artist suggestions for me are sub par ( considerably worse then the genius playlists, at least that finds music )
I listen to Classical, Christian Contemporary and Opera. You would think it would suggest following the London Philharmonic or something.
The people it suggests i follow, also do not seem to correlate. Ah well I am sure it will get better, but perhaps not for me.
People used to make fun of some of my music tastes 🙂. I happen to have a soft spot for 80's Ballads and Yacht Rock. My roomate used to laugh because i knew the words to Every Air Supply song. But good music is good music 🙂
Other than accessing via the iPhone - you have to have an application open - itunes. No thanks.so does accessing twitter or facebook, all use applications, like browsers or tweetdeck, etc, so really, thats moot.

It's not moot. I typically have my browser open at all times. I don't need or want another app running and to have to switch to it.
Then again - I don't really use iTunes that often except to sync - so perhaps I'm the wrong demographic.
Perhaps when/if iTunes moves to the cloud this PING will make more sense.
Either way - I'm still not currently interested as indicated above because I really don't need yet another social networking site to check/participate in.
