I'd like to hear what, if any, choices AT&T Next users will have at launch. I am honestly expecting these phones to sell out and be sold out for far longer than any iPhone previously (assuming rumors of screen sizes are true). I think a lot of people that left iOS will be flocking back with this release.

Two MUCH larger screen sizes coupled with a 32GB base model (the latter is less "certain") is going to be crazy I think.

32gb base model? Not happening. The 16gb is too popular for Apple to abandon and they will not do a price drop on the 32gb model. The just released a new 16gb iPod touch so the 16gb ain't going away.

You have to think Apple and AT&T have already worked out the details with Next. For the most part it's still the same transaction. Apple gets all their money upfront from AT&T for the device.

The difference is just on the back end where the customer is paying the whole price of the device over time rather a partial amount with AT&T subsidizing it.

On the front end, I see it being just as smooth as it always has been. The bigger issue is going to be people with 'sticker shock' if they are upgrading multiple devices and suddenly see their cell phone bill skyrocketing. I predict people will be a lot more judicious about upgrading phones. If you upgrade 2-4 devices within the same 'Next' time frame, it could be $60-$150 a month more on the cell bill.

Definitely not looking forward to this. I have to wait until I'm eligible for an upgrade in October. I'm sure it will be on backorder when I'm ready to purchase it. :(

Weird I preordered the 5s and went in for pickup. They initially said no and then did preorder.

That's not what preordering is. Preorder is when orders are opened up prior to the release date and you get the phone delivered on the day (or sometimes even a day or two before) it's available in stores.

The 16 gig is most popular because it's the cheapest, not because people want less storage. You say Apple won't drop the price on the 32 like its a fact.

I ordered my 5S through Verizon's site and got it a few days later. Easiest process ever. I'll probably do the same thing for the i6. I'm not really into the whole "wait outside of an Apple store for 7hrs to possibly get a first day iPhone" thing

I did that back in 2007. Launch day, first one in line. It was a great experience, at least for getting the original iPhone. :)

Cool lol, I just couldn't do it. Waiting outside all that time, not to mention it's really really hot in Texas (both night and day) lol. I've just never did the whole "wait in line" thing. Doesn't matter if it's for a phone, game console, or shoes. I just can't do it. IMO it's just better to order online and have it delivered to your house lol

I stood in line a few times, but now I'm more of a preorder and get-it-at-home kinda guy. I preorder it where I live in Maryland, then visit my girlfriend in Utah, including launch day in my vacation dates. That way, we both get our new iPhones together.

There is also an 8GB iPhone 4s and 5c, just because some phones have lower storage sizes available, doesn't mean all of them will.

I'm on a business/government account. If they allow me to I'll pre-order on the Apple website. If they don't, I'll pre-order through VZW. Either way I'm getting one.

Just observations. Standing in line for something just to have it on day 1 is something I did in high school or college. As an adult I can't think there is anything that would be a bigger waste of my time. Let alone waste my vacation time to take off for such a materialistic reason.

Each to their own, it's no different to getting a game on launch day. Most may see it as a waste of time, I personally don't if that's what people choose to do to obtain their new device. Sadly because so many people do it, it leaves others with no option but to follow to get their device on the day!

I'll probably wait until after launch day and get one when it's in stock. I'm kind of curious to hear what people think about the different sizes before I buy one.

I'm going to do the same. Wait a little while and see if there are any major issues with the new iPhones then go in store and pick one up.

Always better to wait until the hype is over, i'll not be rushing to get one till at least around November if i decide to get one that is.

Reason being will have no probs at all getting a simfree one from Apple store or online.

Any launch problems bugs will be more or less sorted by then to or should be.

I've waited in line the past few years, undecided if I will again this year or not.

I parked my car 10 feet from the Verizon store at midnight for the Ip5. I used my ipad and communicated with other tools around the country!! Kind of fun. First guy showed up at 5. Verizon only got 2. I got one and he got the other one.

IF you enjoy doing it (and many people do, nothing wrong with that...) fine, but to say that having to have something ON launch day, and being willing to wait in LINE for literally hours just for the privelege of purchasing one isn't ridiculous... well, I am safe in saying that many people have far better things to do with their time.

I was driving home from work and stopped at AT&T for the 5S. I wanted a space grey, so it was no biggie to get one on launch day...

But some of the TEMPER TANTRUMS I saw (and have seen) are downright childish (not to mention hillarious). At the end of the day it's a freaking phone. I love mine as much as the next guy, but I can think of about a million better things to do with my time (including paying a homeless person to wait for me if I was that desperate).

If you can't, good for you. But please don't think that people saying "you don't have anything better to do with your time than wait in line for a phone just so you can have it the same day it launches???" are being harsh. They're right. It's ridiculous.

I'd even venture to say that if you DON'T have something better to do it's even more condemning of the ridiculousness, but hell, it's a free country. Waste a day. It certainly won't be the only one for most of the folks doing it, so who's counting??

SENT FROM MY OBAMA iPHONE

:p

:p

You'd be surprised how many people out there actually don't have something better to do than to wait in line to buy a new telephone :p

Use the Apple website or their Apple Store app (I think it has a 'quick buy' option.) When the i5 got released, apple updated their websites right away. I used verizon to preorder my iphone and it took a while to go through the purchase pages because it was sooo laggy. In the end, I still got it on launch day nonetheless.

I'm lining up on launch day.

I have an Apple Store conveniently located 15mins away, and I live in a relatively small town (Buffalo NY), so shouldn't have too much of a line. Hopefully they do a midnight release.

I mean, hey, I'm still a high schooler and it's just the start of the year.

I'm hoping that by preorder time we'll be able to order from Apple under the Next plan from AT&T.

I really hope this is the case. If so I'll order online from Apple.

If not, I'm queuing up at the ATT store. Forget ordering from them. I would prefer to get the phone before November.

Or maybe people have enough vacation and leisure time to spend three or four hours frivolously once a year?

People in this thread are acting like you're wasting your life away by standing in line for one morning out of 365. Geeez.
