Hey guys! I’d like to know how the iPhone Xr compares to the XS max.
I just don’t like the bezels but not sure if going down in screen size will be something I’ll be willing to give up, plus the max is VERY expensive imho.

Thanks in advance!

Are you wearing a $10k+ Rolex on your arm as you read this forum? Well I am and I returned my Max for the XR. It's about value not money and I don't find the XS series to have $1k+ value.
What value do you find in a $10k+ Rolex, as compared to other high quality mechanical watches?

It's mainly aesthetics preference as well as value retention/increase and comfort. I have Omega watch too, but they tend to lose a lot of value and don't find them as comfortable. Just my preference. Also interested in Patek, but little too rich for my blood. I also stay away from precious metal Rolex cause they lose 20-30% value upon purchase while some SS models are sold way above MSRP by resellers.

Thanks, it's interesting to understand "value" as perceived by different users in this forum. I am surprised how often people argue back and forth about such deeply personal purchasing decisions.

Went to Apple Store today to test out the XR. Very impressed. Felt light in-hand.. didn’t feel BIG.. like 8+. Screen looked VERY good, including text. I compared side-by-side with my XS and would not hesitate to buy the XR. I preferrred True Tone on the XR.

The size of image when editing photos between the XS and XR is VERY minimal. This is big for me as 8+ had a lot more ‘size’ of image to edit.. XR to XS is almost nothing which removes one incentive for me to go XR.

So far keeping XS but the XR is very, very impressive.

I could sell my Rolex watches for more than what I paid for so pretty safe purchase unless I destroy it. Haha

Hahaha, Apple has ALWAYS been like this! The first Apple product I bought with my own money was a Powerbook 140B way back in the 90s, and I'm still bitter at what a bad deal it was. Apple always either charges too much or delivers too little at any give spot on their product line. I can count on one hand the number of Apple products that hit the "sweet spot" for price and value. The first that comes to mind was the original iPod Mini which was awesome but cost less than the flagship iPod. Well, they sold too many of them, and Apple shut that sh-t down FAST by replacing it with the cheap, crappy iPod Nano.

Trust me, if the XR sells too much, it will disappear from the iPhone line and never come back. If only a few stubborn tightwads like me buy them, it will be considered a success and we'll see another XR next year.

Didn’t he Apple PowerBook 100 series have a reputation of being the buggiest laptop ever made?

It was fine for typing term papers, chatting up other clockwatchers on AOL and learning to code a little, which was all I ever did with it. The big problem with my model was that the screen was so bad, even compared to the other LCD screens of the day. It wasn't even greyscale, it was MONOCHROME. Reading it was like trying to read War and Peace off of a strip of the thermal tape they use for supermarket receipts.

Premium cars will get you from A to B just as good as any economy car. But they can costs 10s of thousands more. Does the premium car owner say they got ripped off? Some people just enjoy having a premium product. Some people may have a specific need for the XS / Max’s slight performance benefits. So really there’s not much else to say. I like my Max and don’t feel like I was ripped off.

I don't agree with this comparison.

The time has come for Apple to put out a radically different iPhone like a foldable iPhone
Apple has now exhausted all of its Larger iPhone options and cheaper iPhone options
If Apple chooses to stick with this design for a third year people are NOT going to upgrade

Phone came off the charger at 6am, had events at work & didn’t get home till 6:30pm. Some twitter, Facebook, check email, play Pokémon go to and from work, take Uber home. Still plenty of battery life when I put it on the charger for the night. Very happy with my new phone:)

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but the question is, when is that technology necessarily ready for a market that will hold a heavy price tag for a phone that might be bendable? And, is that something that’s practical for the every day consumer in terms of where the smart phone market is today? Likely not. So I think it will be a very niche crowd who would be interested a bendable iPhone, if that does happen.

I have a MAX now, and I went to the store today to check out the XR.

1) The XR seems like it does 98% of what the XS/Max both do, for much less. The vast majority of iPhone users would love that phone

2) The white, red, blue and yellow look great in person

3) The XS and Max feel and look “nicer” than the XR, but I’m not seeing the utility. For example, the XR screen is fine, and the camera feels excellent. All apps will work equally well on all of these phones

4) Apple really should have released a single next generation iPhone with XR dimensions and specs and an OLED screen starting at around $899 at 128G. This would have been “the new iPhone” and created a huge upgrade cycle. Instead we have this dual track system where none of the buyers actually get real value.

How are they ripping off iPhone buyers?

They offer an 8/8plus/Xr with lcd and and Xs/Xs max with oled at different price point.

Some poster here who have absolutely no interest in purchasing an iPhone claim that the Xr’s display is a ripoff due to the 828p resolution. But in a blind test versus a 1080p panel the Xr @828p is chosen unanimously as the superior display.
