Are you happy or unhappy with the battery life on your iPhone 4S

Most people posting in here only have 1-4 hour usage & 16+ hours standby. But what about users like me who easily have 6+ hours usage & about 7-8 hours of standby in one day? I hate having to charge my phone at about 7 or 8 pm just because I used my phone 6+ hours that day. Am I expecting too much? I got this out of my 4 for the most part, so I expected more from the 4S.

(FYI, I have locations on for camera/postsecret/maps, notifcations on, brightness at about 25%, & fetch once an hour.)

I think realisticly you should be getting around 6-7 hours usage and at least 1 day in standby every different charge.

Thats what I got with the 4 and what I've been getting with the 4s...I have noticed though when using 3G it drains alot but in wifi? it is great usage.

This is my usage since my last charge:

Usage: 4 hours 50 min.
Standby: 12 hours 20 min.

I now have 5% of battery left.

Mostly I've been playing a few games (one requires internet connection) editing photos, taking a few photos, texting, one phone call, Reading a few news articles, Facebook, Instagram ect. I've been constantly getting notifications from Instagram though. Had Wi-FI the entire time except for maybe 3 hours.

So is my battery holding a proper charge or did I get one that has a defected battery?

Also adding that my husband's usage is not drastically different from mine but he has only been texting, reading, played Angry Birds, Facebook, ect and he has 61%. I'm hoping it's just what I was doing on my phone that caused it to drop more than his.

I'm waiting for mine to die, but it's not giving up those last 5% without a fight! Goodness I love this phone.

Right now I have 8.5 hours of use, and just shy of 12 hours on standby.

That use is me closing out of all apps except Music, Words with Friends, Hanging with Friends, Texts, and Phone. I've done somewhat heavy use in the 8.5 hours, had music playing 90% of the time, tons of Words with Friends, some app downloads, some Siri, and two pictures. Most of the time I just turn it on to page through it, I'm still in new toy heaven.

So given this use, I'm pretty happy with my phone. I did turn off the constant feedback and tinker around with various settings, but otherwise everything else is on. No complaints from me.

Yeah that does seem pretty bad for what you have done. It may not be a battery defect but maybe the apple update will help solve this. I think the earliest you got your 4s the worse the battery would be...mine has been just as good as my 4...and seeing your and others usage i'm very lucky with how good my battery has been.

I would wait till the apple update and if it still the same then yes I would go see apple.

Yeah your does sound very good...I only ever got over 8 hours usage i think once or twice on my 4...so it is rare IMO but impressive when it happens.

Yeah hopefully, obviously there are plenty who's battery has been very good but alot who's have been bad with similar stats to you. Which is why apple has noted this and will bring out an update..so hopefully for you that makes a difference. Which it should...as i remember plenty having issues with the 4 this time last year too.

How about this time?:

^ That's some amazing battery stamina.

Mine is now at 9 hours use, 12 hours standby on 1%. It refuses to die on 1% -- it's stayed on that for the past 20 minutes.

My luck the update will not work for mine. Lol. I had the 3GS before this one and that phone could last for days before I had to recharge it. But hopefully everyone's battery will get fixed with the update. Thanks again for the information.

Yeah thats very good based on the 2 days in standby...think i only ever got over 2 days in standby once or twice...tough to do these days. doesn't your 3G drain bad then? I've found 3G drains alot more...under wifi is fine but it was the same for me under the 4. It is super quick though luckily.

No worries, I'm sure it will be fixed through the update...apple know this is an issue so either way yours will get better.

keep posting your stats on here to compare.

Yeah, 3G drains battery a lot, beside of this horrible network coverage I have here- 3-4 bars and very inconsistant 3G..
But still I would like to gain a bit more of the usage time..

Not going into huge details but:

Usage: 6 Hours, 15 Minutes

Standby: 14 Hours, 20 Minutes

My best time thus far.

This was with some light SIRI usage (used it 5 times to set up 5 different calendar events.

Some web browsing, mainly on wifi for probably a combined 3 hours.

One 25 second phone call.

5 Pictures

2 Minutes of video

Used the "Flash Light" app for 10 minutes or so.

10 Minutes of Pandora.

Some games (not graphic intensive games or whatever you want to call it) for maybe 25 minutes tops.

And only 8 Texts sent.

I assume I have some phantom usage as well, because I don't feel like I used it for 6 hours. That list is to the best of my knowledge.

Has you will probably already know, Apple is going to release a software update (5.0.1) in the coming weeks. In the mean time you will just have to bear with it until this release comes along. The 5.0.1 software update is apparantly going to fix battery issues :)

Just an FYI, I recently purchased the Incipio offGRID battery case and am now at 1% after using the phone for 3 days. I charged only with the case.

This is the battery life I have only dreamed about. ;)

How long was the phone plugged into though? it says it was charged since?

if iphone 4s normally 4/5 hour usage still not good enough , because without jailbreak/sbsetting/winterboard/application/game/song , if we count those in too , and i don't think iphone 4s could hold up to 4/5 hour anymore ,

I'm mostly using wifi, but my stats are 2 days standby 7 hours usage. I'm really happy with it. I occasionally use pandora with Bluetooth in the car, but not too much.

63%
Usage 3hrs 16mins
Standby 6hrs 26mins

This is about 1.5hrs of pandora with the screen locked for the most part other then when inputting info in a fitness app.

The rest of the time was listening to music with the screen locked 5 mins max of looking at emails / few iMessages.

Best thing I got so far was:

Usage: 5hours 22 minutes
Standyby: 10hours 34minutes

and my battery is completely gone.

It seems to me some of my apps if not closed entirely drain battery like crazy. For example fifa2012 (soccer game).

Even if I have nothing going on in the background I sometimes experience insane battery drain of 1% every 2 minutes i have a phone call going on.
