it all depends on what your usage....

What was yours? It is freaking amazing.

What do you think about mine? Is it OK? This is only on 3G data:

Best I have achieved so far. Anyone else notice wifi sync is quite the battery hog?

Push, brightness at 35% (no auto adjust).

Usage 9 hrs 35 mins
Standby 1 day 3 hrs

This is from yesterday. I should've grabbed a screenshot.

Usage: 1 hour 10 minutes
Standby: 12 hours 10 minutes

Battery: 72%

I work in a place with really crappy signal. So most of that battery use would've been lower had I not been at work.

I took a screen shot at bedtime and again this morning. I lost about 10% with the screen turned off (and there is a mysterious hour of "usage") in 10 hours. Not terrible considering what some folks are getting, but about half the advertised rate.

If i have to break it down....trying to remember..

14 hours usage:
apps store - 1 hour
surfing the net - 1 hour
playing games - 2 hours
listening to mp3 - 7 hours
phone calls - 2 hours
misc - 1 hour

I lose about 1% for every 2-3 hours on standby mode.
my location is off since I don't use it
my wifi is off
icloud is not in use
ping is off

I don't use the phone much but you can see that it 3 days of standby mode. All these numbers are going to vary based on their usage. If I access the apps store, it can deplete the battery very fast vs. listening to the music.

I can't say if your is good or bad, but we can compare the standby mode. If you lose 1% on standby mode every 2 hours, then your battery is the same as mine.

More than happy. Not as much battery as my 4 but still come home with 50% at the end of the day.

Give Apple some time ! The iPhone 4 had the same problems at first.

After A Day Out

And using 3g as opposed to wifi, my charge dropped from 59% this morning (when I switched on my phone) to 43% now.

That's really not bad at all, But it is using battery power MUCH more quickly than my 4 does. On the whole though, I'd have to say I'm happy with the 4S's performance battery wise. Since we will shortly be getting 5.01 which addresses the battery issue, things should improve.

The Bluetooth enabled by defat has got to causing some people issues. Can't understand why it's configured like that, but BT chews through battery power very quickly. I'm guessing Apple will address this in the update too.

Mine seems to be pretty terrific: I got it last night and charged it too 100%. Now I'm at 47% after 4 hours of heavy usage, and 14 hours of standby. Not bad.

Or maybe it is bad, but it's still smoking every other phone I've had.

Yea that's very good

Sadly my 4S is going to have to be replaced.

I keep getting panic.plist crashes, I've noticed around 4 times over the 10 days of having my 4S that my usage figures disappearing and wondered why this was happening. Today I had my 4S sitting on my desk when I saw the Apple logo appear on the screen (like what you see when you switch it on) but the 4S was already switched on. The 4S had crashed and rebooted itself and when I checked the usage stats they were all blank, and there was a panic.plist in the crash log on my 4S.

So I contacted Apple and they booked me a genius appointment for Monday, its probably going to be replaced from what I was told as the panic.plist crashes are normally a hardware issue.

Phone just died..so for my 2nd set of usage here are my stats

7 hours usage
1 day standby

so pretty better than the first time...

Very rough standby estimate:

After full charge, left phone in standby. 10 hrs later, it was down to 94%. I noticed it had a couple of notifications - one calendar event, and one email. Notifications are enabled for apps including: iMessage, Reminders, calendar events, and a handful of 3rd party apps. Edit: Wifi and Bluetooth on, cell signal is 4 bars.

Extrapolating this out to 0%, and keeping conditions the same, I would predict 167 hrs. standby. This is obviously a very rough estimate, but it's in the ballpark of the 200hr life Apple says to expect.

I mostly keep the phone in its dock, so I haven't made any good predictions based on normal usage (surfing, email, messaging, and light gaming).

This isn't possible off of one charge. I don't know what you think you are gaining by posting fake/inflated battery life claims. Does it make you feel good? Just to make sure, I created a thread to see if I was the only one who thought this is complete BS

Anyways, here is my, real (web browsing, siri, ipod, texts, etc). Location services on. Wifi ~50% of the time. Push notifications on, including push email account.

I can tell you from first hand experience that those numbers are definitely possible. My wife has a white iPhone 4 16 gig. I picked her phone up to check out the settings to make sure everything was going ok on her 5.0 upgrade and to my complete disbelief her usage was over 11 hrs and the stand by was 3 days with 35% left on the battery. I had to charge that phone daily (sometimes twice) since I got it at launch. I said to her how in the freakin world do you get numbers like that with push on and an exchange account getting 50+ emails a day??!! She told me because she doesn't peck on it all day like me. # I can tell you she uses her phone mainly for email and phone. She uses the Internet and apps very little so those numbers are only achievable for a very few users.

Alright, so an update. If you remember I was getting incredible battery life out of mine. Well this morning I enabled iCloud and now my battery life is TERRIBLE. Nothing has changed other than me enabling iCloud. I'm losing battery approximately 7x as fast under similar conditions. Just my observations.

I wish I could disable it, but does iCloud need to be on in order for find my iPhone to work?

iPhone 4s charged over night, took off charge at around 8am. Its now 1.28pm and I have the following:

20% charge left
Usage 4 Hours, 30 Mins
Standy 5 Hours, 48 Mins

its getting ridiulous, when is this being fixed? I dont have a charger at work but I think I might need one!

I think his maybe slightly inflated but I genuinely get 2.5 days standby and 9hrs usage

Have Just Put Mine

On charge (second cycle) should have a better idea of true battery life, but on the whole I would say that it's probably 20% less on the 4S than it was on my 4.

The 4S has a habit of turning stuff on when you don't need it. Bluetooth, and I only use 3G when I'm not on mine or the studios wifi network.

I've found that keeping tabs on what's running helps. This second full charge will give me a clearer idea of just how much more juice the 4S is using.

My 3rd stats

6 hours, 25 minutes usage
1 day, 5 hours standby

And that is with iCloud, notifications and push on so far I've yet to go under 6 hours usage and 1 day in standby

Considering my latest stats were alot on 2G due to not 3G coverage at work
