Well then it's just like Weatherspoons. I actually prefer the lack of music, as it allows me to chat with mates. After all, I rarely go there alone, and if all I wanted to do is sit and listen to music, I'd just go home.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. One of my favorite beers, and from what you have described is right up your alley, is Abita Turbodog. Silly name, but a fantastic beer.

I suggest it to anyone who likes beer, particularly if you like darker beers.

One of the few things i like about wales is this beer, BRAINS. But I dont know if its widely available, so far ive only seen it in wales, not even england.

Boags Premium
Coopers Sparkling Ale (it's in a red labelled bottle, stronger and better than the Pale Ale)
Little Creatures Pale Ale

There's a fairly hefty list of good beers hardly anyone else know about down here. The Poms can pick on us but unless they've delved into the little-known brews down here (not Fosters, nobody here drinks that) then they can shut up right now.

Micro breweries are the key though, often much better than anything you can buy by the palette but you've got to be careful, a micro brewery can bollocks it up as well as anyone.

I'm going to disagree with you on the Boags Premium. That, and Cascade Premium, are overpriced in Aussie terms, and also quite over-rated. They're watery.....the flavour just isn't there. They're not as bad as Toohey's Special Dry or whatever, but still not good. Moo Brew is better than both, in my opinion, and it's also a Tassie beer.

I think the Coopers Sparkling is good, but I personally feel that the Pale Ale (green bottle) tastes better. The Sparkling is still a good beer, so I still respect it. I respect Coopers in general. Their best was a limited edition Extra Special Old Stout, which was in a silver label (I think). It was aged 10 years or something. Best Aussie beer I have ever had. It's not available anymore, of course.

Little Creatures is something I expected more from as well. I've been to their brewery 3 times, and one beer definitely wasn't great, but the other was fantastic. Both lagers, although I forget which one was good, and which was bad.

The most surprising good Australian beer is Toohey's Old. It's one of the most mainstream Aussie beers, and yet it's good! It has a lot of flavour, isn't totally flat like Boddingtons, but looks bad in a glass. It's just looks though. :p

I'm not sure where you're located, but Boulevard Wheat (which is brewed in Kansas City and probably available throughout the entire midwest, I can get it in STL) is excellent. If you can't get that, Blue Moon is very similar. Bass is also a good beer as well (and that's definitely available everywhere).

You can get it in England, I had a pint of one of their beers in a pub a few months back. I can't say it was particularly good, although to be fair the pub we were in isn't exactly brilliant at making sure its ales are well kept.

British Beer is definetly the best in the World

My favourite brewer is Youngs , The London Pride is gorgeous.

Most of the world drink, in my opinion, tasteless lagers and call them beers(Australia and the US in particular)

Then Theakston Old P
If you can, get it draft at the White Bear just next to the Theakstons Brewry.

Any Black Sheep brew (Chief brewer is Paul Theakston, a Theakston brother who disagreed with the family firm being sold off to a big brewer, based in Masham) . Wonderful beers

Old Speckled Hen

Ruddles County hoppy, ligh, perfect summer drink

Marstons Pedigree

Bishops Finger, well anything bu the longest lasting brewery business in the World ,Sheperds Neame

Any Fullers beers

I live in Australia now and you can get some of these here but Australian beers have come along way in the last ten years or so,

James Squire make excellent beers, getting up to the British beers even.

If anyone is ever in Sydney the James Squire Brewhouse in Sydney's darling Harbour is a must. On the waters edge, serves good pub food, great beer- its perfect on a hot evening

Belgium beers, yes, they are great but to me they are a one trick pony. Sweet (its like you are drinking a fortefied wine), heavy, Strong and some with flavours- nice and I have had some good nights at the Belgium Beer Cafe in Sydney but for me (and taste is a personal thing) British beers are my personal favourites.

That's a good summary of Belgian beers. They're good, if you want to get hammered in a short space of time.

Sam Adams Boston Lager, Genesee Cream Ale, Heinekin in the states.
Guiness if you make it to Dublin. Tastes totally different than what you get here.
Same with Bitburger. You go to Germany you will taste a huge difference.
Again, if you are in the Netherlands you try Heinekin. The label will have an outlined star in red and not a solid red star. Again, so much better than what we get here.
And then any where in Belgium you will get a good beer.
And then if you are feeling hard core, you can get Arogant Bastard Ale here in the states. Just sit down when you drink it.

Bud Light. Hands down the best beer ever.

Hands down the second worst beer ever. (After Coors Light)
---

anywho, where are you from though? If you're Canadian, I recommend Keith's, anything by Sleeman's, and Kokanee.

If you're American, I say you should look out for Moosehead, which is Canadian, a pretty good beer for a hot summer day, or else.. if you want to really get your taste buds working, try out this white beer from Canada called Blanche de Chambly by Unibroue, the Unibroue line is one of the most famous Canadian beer lines in the world, but not that popular outside of beer connoisseurs.
