people need to understand people like Musclenerd and pod2g, p0sixninja do this mostly for the challenge. just like some people love sports they love the challenge of finding that exploit to do what other can't. it's not as much about the fun but doing the impossible. Apple tries to stop them yet they manage to find a way in. it's like planing to get in fort Knox and all the sudden your in. not only that but you can invite others in to see what you've open a hidden world for them. it's fun for them allow them to have there fun and we will have our jailbreaks. hopefully others will learn as well.

That's a good point. I'm stubbornly victorious in that regard too, just wish I had the ability and knowledge to contribute

As do I, and imagine there are so many people out there who are terrified to just jailbreak, or unlock. This is something that seems easy and trivial to some and extremely complex to others. Likely the same when it comes to find exploit, except the people finding the exploit in this case are even smaller.

I have no doubt that we'll have our jailbreak eventually. We've just got to be patient. I only wish there were a path to restore 5.0.1 when Apple inevitably stops signing it. I'm afraid that with the 4A jailbreak already out there so long Apple's already got a fix and is just waiting for the A5 jailbreak drop to release 5.0.2 or 5.1 and make it impossible to restore to 5.0.1 if we accidentally install an incompatible app or something.

So umm...I hate to be that guy but today is exactly a week since he said "I made a step today for the A5. With some luck we could expect a release in a week."

any word of progress or if it is gonna come out within the next few days? Stock ios is as boring as my old razr, i'll prolly throw it against a wall to watch it shatter soon if i cant jb.

That was tweeted on the 03 January at 19:11 GMT, so you're a little premature there!

So hope we get it tommorow lol

This is why the Dev-Team never gives even a hint at a release date.

pod2g should learn from the Dev-Team and, at a minimum, not give estimates. Clearly, too many people's lives consist of nothing but impatiently waiting for for a jb and when it doesn't arrive 'on time', they react badly.

Why are you here? Are you (im)patiently waiting for the release too?*

not everyone acts in the manner you have described. Some people enjoy being able to jailbreak while others rely on it for unlocking purposes and core functionality of their phones.

unfortunately the few whiners seem to scream the loudest and bring bad attention to themselves. While I agree its ridiculous how some people act, I've learned to ignore them and hopefully the devs have also.

Read my post. I never said 'everyone acts in the manner' I described. I said 'too many' do.

I am here, if it's any of your business, to learn about the progress pod2g is making with the A5 jb. I am already running an untethered jb on my iPhone4 but also have an iPad2.

unfortunately the few whiners seem to scream the loudest and bring bad attention to themselves - don't be that guy

People who can't read and comprehend what they read also 'bring bad attention to themselves'. Don't be that guy...again.

perhaps you should read your own post again, and you will clearly see that you placed a generalization on everyone in this thread.

Why criticize people for participating in this thread when you are here for the same reason?

anyways back on topic: My magic 8 Ball tells me we will hear something from them by Wednesday *rolls dice*

'Too many people' doesn't equal everyone nor everyone in this thread. Try again.

Again, I am not criticizing people for participating in this thread. Just the whiners and complainers.

This is my last reply to you. You've been embarrassed enough.

Well it looks like there won't be any jailbreak today but the good news is they have had a lot of progress with the help of saurik

@Musclenerd -props to @saurik for major contributions to the A5 version of @pod2g's untether yesterday! (still no ETA, but moving forward)

Pod2G- @MuscleNerd @saurik And greetings to @planetbeing for the coding + research. Really great stuff to escape from the sandbox.

Pod2G- sorry, we can't release the A5 for the developers, the exploit used have to be kept secret. I know this is unfair.

Kinda makes me feel like it can be weeks more.

Disclaimer: I'm not bitching. I want to make that clear!

This last part really killed any hope I had. Man...weeks??? Oh well. We've waited this long, what's another 3 months? LOL. :D

That's just his opinion, Im thinking a week. It looks like they figured out their problem and are just maybe working out the little bugs to release something stable.

Plus in 3 months the A6 iPad will be out, that would make apple feel good about their iOS security seeing as the A5 has been JB only once on 4.3.3.

it took them less than a week to get out of the sandbox. i imagine with the progress posted above, it's not gonna be much longer.

personally, i think they're waiting for release of ios 5.1

I think it's very clear now that the exploit used for the A5 devices isn't the same as that of the current untethered A4 one. Otherwise, I don't think they would be so hush hush about the exploit. This makes me think that they'll hold off for iOS 5.1, and be able to recycle the A5 exploit into A4 devices too.

It could quite feasibly be a bluff, saying they had the same exploit working for an A5 device and were just changing the injection. Might force apple to repair the A4 exploit in 5.1 then they bring out the real exploit for the A5.

Personally I think it's the same exploit.

They expect Apple to repair the exploit in 5.02/5.1

The last tweet is only an answer to the question if it can be released to developers as it needed some of Apple code which developers can legally use, but the masses can't.

If they release it to the delevopers, Apple will be quicker to close the exploit.

They are very close!

Actually Apple is a bit slower this time, maybe the hollidays, usually the have a fix within 2 weeks.

Maybe Apple is waiting for them this time, to make sure this doesn't carry over in 5.1! LOL

I don't think so anymore. I would have believed this, had they released the A5 jailbreak shortly after the A4 ... but they didn't. The A5 will soon be more sought after and harder to accomplish in terms of jailbreaking, so I can't imagine they would just throw it away to Apple unless they have some secret weapon up their sleeve.

I think they're bluffing Apple into releasing 5.1, and will then show their secret weapon which would hopefully be a bootroom level exploit for the A5.

Nothing they've said points to that really. It's only the injection vector that is different. They have a nice wide open hole via limera1n run these exploits on A4. It sounds like they have some kind of hole they can only exploit with the SDK (which can be patched) that can be used to inject the exploit. This is why we've seen musclenerd weeks ago working on unlocks on a jailbroken a5.

If it's bootrom they don't need to wait till 5.1, apple won't be able to close those without manufacturing changes. And would give them the injection vector they need and apple wont be able to do a thing about it. It would also let you downgrade to 5.0.1 with just the SHSH/APTicket and we wouldn't have then posting on twitter to get to 5.0.1 while you can.

This experience waiting for a jailbreak might be what makes me switch to Android.

I really appreciate the work pod2g is doing but this is taking so long. 3 months with no jailbreak :(. If I stay on my cycle of always getting the new iPhone, I could potentially only have a jailbreak for at the most 9 months, then have to wait another 3-6 months. I imagine the new iPhone will be even harder to crack.

This is versus Android where I can do what I want, from the start.

Upsetting, because I like the iPhone a lot, but Apple is pissing me off.

Yup, that quote makes me 99% sure it's a waiting game for 5.1. Which means a few weeks, at least (from what I've read on these boards). We'll live.
