It's a container of sorts that prevents malicious or poorly-behaving code from messing with other applications and memory address space. Chrome sandboxes flash to prevent the numerous flash exploits from harming your computer. Apple sandboxes applications for the same reason. One of the necessary pieces for the jailbreak to work is to bypass the sandbox, so that the JB code CAN modify memory and code elsewhere on the phone.

awesome explanation. thanks

Yeah hopefully with the 4 of them working on it sharing what they know it will not take a long time. I still feel like we will see something by the 10th or before....fingers crossed

Where do you get that information from? I don't think he is talking about the jailbreak there but instead a notebook that p0sixninja got sent to him. You did get me excited for a quick second.

its from his twitter, and you can see someone asking him if the A5 jb is nice. he is responding to that i think.

Unfortunately, not. Let's follow the trail:

So I don't think he's talking about a jailbreak here.

Wow I knew he was talking about the notebook right off the bat. Everyone is so on edge about a jailbreak, that they're thinking every single post from these devs is about the jailbreak. They do have lives outside of releasing it and when it is released, people will probably stop caring about what the devs say (it's unfortunately the world we live in).

Its even worse because most people take everything out of context as well.

Pod2g could post on his twitter he just ordered a pizza and people would take that as he gave up on trying to jailbreak A5 devices because he has other things going on in his life.

:D

I have complete faith in these guys but the iPad 2 is proof that the A5 is no walk in the park to jailbreak. Let's just hope that's bc pod never got to take a crack at it.

Apple is clearly winning the JB battle. Hiring Comex was huge

Yep but too bad it's fraught with probs.

Ditto what srf4real said. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the redsn0w jailbreak. The only thing 'fraught with probs' are the people who can't figure out they are installing apps that are not compatible with iOS 5 and people who spread incorrect information like redsn0w is 'fraught with probs'.

I wonder if this tweet has anything to do with the jailbreak. Just saw it this morning. Chronic is talking about going to CES.

@chronic:(sadly didn't have time to work out bugs in a secret proj to let me debug apps on the go but I'll only be there half the week so it's okay)

yup the JB community is fraught with people that install stuff without reading or doing research 1st. fallowed by OMG I bricked my iPhone please help. or I accidentally upgraded now what. people shoould take the time to research jailbreaking while we waiting for the next jailbreak release.

Apple is not winning this fight, if you think about it in a fair way:

a handful of unpaid guys working on a side project x number of hours a week vs an entire team at apple paid realistically over a million dollars a year to make the device secure.

And...the team of a handful of guys has most of it worked out and is missing one final piece to the puzzle

They were always going to CES, and who knows if that secret project is jail breaking?

Agreed. I do think jailbreak devs need more fire power but their resources will always pale in comparison to Apple's.

people need to understand people like Musclenerd and pod2g, p0sixninja do this mostly for the challenge. just like some people love sports they love the challenge of finding that exploit to do what other can't. it's not as much about the fun but doing the impossible. Apple tries to stop them yet they manage to find a way in. it's like planing to get in fort Knox and all the sudden your in. not only that but you can invite others in to see what you've open a hidden world for them. it's fun for them allow them to have there fun and we will have our jailbreaks. hopefully others will learn as well.
