the only reason i could see it being tomorrow is because theres an apple event, even though the jailbreak has no relevance.

Yeah, I doubt that it will be tomorrow. I'm sure the devs have a ton of respect for apple itself or they would own a iDevice to JB. So why release it on the same day as a big apple event? I hope you are right but, as a previous poster said, I think the entire world thought it would be yesterday or today. Def no later. Being wrong is a bitch.
 
They aren't holding it its just not ready. As per Planetbeing, @pimskeks is the one writing the jailbreak app. Everyone has to understand that the researching and coding portion is complete as you can tell from all the pictures.

Right now is the writing and packaging of the actual jailbreak app. Think of it as takeout food. The hostess takes the order, delivers it to the cook, the cook then tests the food quality then finally sends it out for delivery. Right now it's in the final food quality test and then out to delivery for us.

Pimskeks said it should be ready in less than a week. He then got flooded with 1000 followers within the hour and deleted the tweet with the eta.

At this point pod2g has done everything he could. He's a security researcher not a programmer which is why he passed it off to the chronic dev team. If u guys want to be up to date follow Planetbeing and pimpkeks.
 
I don't know why I keep looking at this thread...when the tool is released there will be a dedicated thread to it....but I'm gonna keep looking at this thread for some unknown reason

When did he say it would be ready in less than a week? I didnt see that. Today? If thats the case im totally wasting my time cause it might not be out till next week.
 
We aren't going anywhere with the current posts so I have a few questions. Why can't we go back to an older iOS version if we have to restore an A5 device after 5.1 has been released. How does it differ from A4 devices? Is there anything I can do before jailbreaking to possibly help me in the future? I saved my blobs for the 4S using TinyUmbrella just in case. New to jailbreaking so bear with me :p

Not bad questions at all.

Any restore you do has to be verified by Apple's servers. But since, once 5.1 is released, they won't be signing 5.0.1 anymore, you wouldn't be able to roll back to that firmware. Just like right now...you can't roll back to 5.0, since they're no longer signing it.

I've also got my blobs saved for 5.0.1 using TU, just in case they come up with a way to circumvent the process and allow you to restore to an older firmware. It's just a good practice to get into.

And yeah, the A5 devices are different. Not exactly sure what Apple changed, but something about the way firmwares are signed is different, making the old way of downgrading firmware obsolete (at least how you did it on earlier iPhones). Again, hopefully they've figured something out, because at this point, if you "accidentally" upgrade beyond 5.0.1 and there's no jailbreak, you're screwed.

I'm not worried about accidentally upgrading. Just that I might need to restore for whatever reason and then I'd have to restore to 5.1.

Latest build for ipad wifi is 9A405. Latest build for iPhone 4S is 9A406. If the jailbreak works for both iPad2 and iPhone 4S, what difference does it make which build you are on? How can the jb work for the ipad on 405, but not for an iphone on 405?

Right there with you barressi, i have no problem being patient and waiting. That isnt at all the issue. I know pod2g was likely being helpful(or trying) with all of his ETA's. At that, i think that they all are however, not complaining here just telling it like it is with this one. They are going to continue to get reamed with comments and junk talking anytime they post because everyone is so on edge because i think its really to starting to show just how good apple is really getting with their security. It says something about how safe and complete apples system really is. However there is a small percentage of the user base, admittedly most of us here, that want more. There are those out there that take every little thing any of them say and just blow it much further out of the water than we have. Sure there are tons of useless comments(many of mine, and this one too) on here, but as a whole most people here have stayed calm. If its not here by tomorrow night, its time to just sit back and wait. Sure enough when its ready, it will be all over the internet and there will be a thousand threads on here with noobs forking there phones up. So i guess im taking a break, good luck to you guys who hang around!!!

I just want

All i would like is an eta not an exact ETA like okay almost done...it should be tomorrow but no promises. Or it won't happen till next week at soonest...
 
Everyone following this thread wants such an ETA but these guys just do not operate that way like say a game developer.

There attitude generally is simply when it's done .

Since we are not paying for this luxury is another reason these guys don't owe us any explanations or eta's.

I believe this is also why they don't want donations because with that comes timed expectations.

Yes.. and this is exactly how it should be.

It isn't their fault nor their wrongdoing when someone expects something from them and they've given no promises or expectations on it. It will be ready when it's ready, so sit back and wait.

I'm saying this in general, and not directed toward you or anyone here.

I have this question as well because not all countries have 9A406, for example I've never got that update...not all countries have it...
 
Isnt it correct that it doesnt matter what build of 5.0.1 you are on? The jb will work on both right? I have the 405

Yeah the only difference between the 2 are the basebands

94A06 was only if you updated your phone through iTunes not over the air.

Not sure if Mexico got it or not but I have seen people confused about this before.

Pimskeks said it this afternoon. He actually deleted his Tweets with the eta after people starting pounding him with questions.
