Polestar remains committed to offering CarPlay Ultra in its future electric vehicles, a company spokesperson told MacRumors today. However, the brand did not provide a specific timeframe for availability, or any other details at this time.

Many automakers have been tight-lipped about adopting CarPlay Ultra, so Polestar confirming that it still plans to offer the software system is notable.

CarPlay Ultra is currently limited to luxury Aston Martin vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. Apple said that many other automakers around the world are working to offer it over the next year and beyond, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.

Polestar was one of more than a dozen automakers that Apple had listed as being committed to offering the next generation of CarPlay, now known as CarPlay Ultra, when it was first announced in 2022. Given the list is now three years old, however, it is possible that some automakers have shifted gears. For example, Mercedes-Benz was included in the list, but it has since decided not to let Apple take over its in-vehicle software experience.

That original list from 2022 was as follows:
  • Acura
  • Audi
  • Ford
  • Honda
  • Infiniti
  • Jaguar
  • Land Rover
  • Lincoln
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Nissan
  • Polestar
  • Porsche
  • Renault
  • Volvo
Aston Martin was announced later.

Launched last month, CarPlay Ultra features deep integration with a vehicle's instrument cluster and systems, built-in Radio and Climate apps, widgets, and more. The interface is tailored to each vehicle model and automaker's identity, and drivers can also adjust the color scheme. To learn more, read our coverage of Apple's announcement.

But sure, ignore the percipitous drop in sales the world over.
yeah because when you shutdown the factories worldwide to upgrade the equipment to produce a completely refreshed model of the world's best selling vehicle for two years in a row (on the way to the third), you shouldn't have a single drop in sales anywhere, right?

i'm sure apple's iPhone sales increase right before they announce the new models too! consumers love buying soon-to-be-outdated tech!

Polestar currently uses Android Automotive.

Do they mean to say that they will be shifting everything or that this is just a PR answer?

Place your bets.

Polestar software is expressly leading edge and incubates new features before they percolate down to the more mainstream Volvo (same parent company).

The dual-screen CarPlay implementation on my Polestar 2 is great, one of the few brands that puts Carplay on the instrument panel.

Tesla had no competition on EV for some years...so that was the main reasons of selling ...now, with competition they become just a mediocre car with a lower price point because of that

Same! That feature is why I bought my polestar 2! Love it! I was only considering polestar and bmw because of this feature.

Competition has been coming since 10 years ago: https://fortune.com/2015/08/13/audi-tesla-samsung-lg-chem/

I'm sure competition will also deploy a Tesla Supercharger network competitor too. Oh no wait, they need Tesla's help with that. If Tesla's sales decline, Elon can just bump up fees for non-teslas at the supercharger sites 🤣

Still waiting.

the interface looks very immature.
The idea is very bad. IOS must support so many different car dashboards sizes, capabilities so it can be truly optimized to use each particular car model capabilities and resources.
Lowest common denominator for all cars.
Apple should be paying those car makers a looooot… be aware of “premium” features that need payment to enjoy your car.
Really bad idea for consumers… Chinese car don’t go that route.

Would be nice if this comes to my S90! It's not super important but would be nice to have compared to my dated sensus software.

Spot on. Us P2 owners are unlikely to get this new implementation of Carplay though.
