Would be nice if this comes to my S90! It's not super important but would be nice to have compared to my dated sensus software.

You will need the new Snapdragon Cockpit platform tog get CarPlay Ultra. It was recently released for XC90 and XC60 . If you have the Google platform you might get the new UX. But for us that still run Sensus, we will probably be left behind. https://www.volvocars.com/au/news/technology/two-major-tech-upgrades-soon-in-new-volvo-cars/

Listen as an 8 year owner of a Model S this level of defense of Tesla is extremely unattractive and not cool.

8 year owner of a tesla here. just stating facts.

Musk IS a moron
not really relevant to the discussion.

It's true that not a lot comes close to Model S, i've wanted to move to a new car for a while and nothing comes close to ticking all the boxes

hence, the "competition is coming (for a while)" argument. back to the first point - just stating facts. so why are you feeling "unattractive and not cool" vibes when you're just saying what I said?

“Many automakers have been tight-lipped about adopting CarPlay Ultra, so Polestar confirming that it still plans to offer the software system is notable.”

🙄 “
Tight-lipped” means they’ve no interest in adopting this whatsoever.

At least Polestar, a niche EV brand is a better fit for this homogenised UX than Aston Martin. It totally fits with the exhilarating experience of steering a domestic appliance.

I get that car manufacturers are hesitant to adopt CarPlay 2 because they want to concede "control" over the car's entertainment and info system to another company, but it's pretty obvious that customers want CP2

You mean like when Reuters reported Tesla had cancelled their affordable car and Elon called them liars and now we find out that the affordable car was, indeed, cancelled?
Except it's being released this month. Tesla reiterated on the previous financial documents (a couple of months ago) that it's still on track.
Where did you hear it's cancelled? Oh right, Reuters, the publication that keeps getting things wrong lmao

Remember when Reuters published an article saying Tesla had to shut down for 4 days due to protests but then they realized it was a holiday weekend and had to furiously update the article?

Tell me you don’t own an electric car without telling me.

Imagine actually believing this. Lmfao.
I literally own an electric vehicle.

Do you want me to screen record turning on the cameras and checking the cabin camera of my car on my phone?

lmao

You know, you are right.

Media gets things right all the time.

What is also true is that Elon lies through his teeth all the time.

Tesla literally does have better EV cars. Model Y = best selling car in the world in 2023 and 2024 fyi.

They have an slight plurality of the market in a very crowded industry. 97% of buyers chose something else. I will give credit to Tesla for the discipline not to saturate the market with 20 slightly different variations of SUV (though such a strategy does seem to have propelled GM to the #1 in sales in the NA).

#1 car sold without a single TV ad purchased I might add.

Just because there's no need to spend your entire day defending Tesla in a Mac website forum - it is what it is - people have a bad view of Tesla now more than ever and it's largely down to Musk.

I mean the build quality isn't great - Mine was a £90,000 car and the door shuts like a £10,000 car. It's also dropped in value more than any car and anything i've ever owned in my life - it's value is now so low it's not even worth selling. It makes much more sense for me to tear it apart when i've had enough. I'm going to use the battery as a house battery, with the right inventor it's 7x bigger than most house batteries.

I actually quite liked the cybertruck when it was first announced but seeing how poorly it is made and how toxic that vehicle has become I think it'd be better to drive around in anything else.

In a way to proliferation of the Model 3 on the roads killed the brand a bit for me too - it was nice when it was just the S and the X and we waved at each other and we had loads of supercharger space - now there's like a thousand Model 3s every time I leave the house.

As you are showing though people are fiercely defendant of their favourite brands for whatever reason. Tesla had a lot of that, but it's also lost a lot of that now - Musk has pushed many of those people away. To be honest I never bought into him, I knew little of him in 2017 when I got the S, then I saw a keynote for the first time and thought he was an awful speaker and my opinion of him has gone down hill from there. I enjoyed it early on where have this eccentric goofy owner meant you'd get fun silly apps in the car that whilst you never used them gave it a personality and vibe that no other car brand had - it made up for the cheap interior - but that eccentricity spiralled and led to what we have to do, someone so publicly known and toxic that it cannot be positive for a consumer facing brand.

I'd like to see Tesla rescued before it is too late but with the board heavily stacked in Elon's favour and a bubble of stock value even now that can never be realised it's not looking likely. Which is a shame.

Past performance doesn’t predict future events, as they say.

Except it’s now almost halfway into 2025 and in Europe at least, the combination of the traditional Euro auto marques (who’ve quickly learnt and transitioned across hybrid and EV platforms), the South Korean big two, and more recently the Chinese, will swallow up the market, and force Tesla to quit, left only to outlicense (or even sell, if Musk is stubborn) their charger network. As a carmaker here, however, they’re done.

Why? Zero cachet, dwindling loyalty, boring design, poor quality engineering, shocking QC, glitchy software and awful customer service.
