Will you switch to the iPhone?

For me I would say a No or Maybe. Only because I barely use my cell phone as it is. If I ever start using my current cell phone more and the iPhone has good features, stylish, then I may consider one. :)

i'll see what features it has if its just an ipod and phone then maybe, if its a blackberry/treo then yes...
it comes down to what features its going to have
i really like the upcoming treo 680

I'll wait to see what the features are, how well it works, how good it looks, if it's reasonably priced, how good the battery life and reception are, and whether or not I'll be able to get it on my pay-as-you-go scheme here in the UK.

If it ticks all the boxes then I might consider it.

As long as it's tied to specific carriers and you can't pick who you want and have it activated (never happening) I'm not buying.

A definite maybe. It depends on the features, the carrier, the price.. At any rate, it wouldn't be until next Fall when my contract was up (so I get a discount).

I voted No, only because I just bought a new Razor and signed another 2 yr contract. When that 2 yrs is up, I'd certainly give the iPhone a look.

I don't see how anyone can say "yes" when no details are known about it.

I won't be getting one. Just got a Motorola ROKR a few months ago and it does me fine. Be another 3 years till I upgrade. I don't doubt Apple could release a bad phone. They've had a good run thus far :D

Because I am going from a desktop to a laptop i was thinking of going from a 60gb iPod with video to a 2gb or 4gb nano, If i need a video or a change of songs it will be there with me on the MBP.

But if the iPhone is as good as a nano with a phone is i might as well go for that.

But i doubt Apple will make the iPhone as good as a nano because they would loose too many sales.

It depends alot on what carriers get it, but I usually get phones unlocked.

Yeah, it's not so much carrier as in I'm worried I won't be able to use it with Cingular, it's moreso if Cingular doesn't carry it, then it'll likely be too expensive. Granted, Apple will be new to the game, so who knows if it'll be like a Motorola phone that's $500 from them and $150 from a carrier...

But, really, my point was that I can't answer yes OR no. I don't know anything about the phone..

I don't really care much for camera and stuff like that. I just want a 5/6G iPod that's also a phone. I currently have a Siemens MC60 (very old phone), so the minute Apple releases it, I'm getting one.

It would be cool if they made both a Nano and iPod version.:D

Maybe,

I have a Sony Ericsson K750i which does the job nicely for me and I got a cheap iPod with my MacBook (studnt offer), so I'm set for the moment.

If it had all the whistles and bells of the K750i (bluetooth, camera, radio, music player, long battery life) along with the ease of use and features of the iPod (ease of use, ability to output to tv, ease of syncing with my mac)

(The more I say, the more unlikely it is I'll get one, but maybe...)

I haven't had a cell phone for 4 years but an Apple iPhone would probably get me back.

Also if they add the $59 AppleCare Protection Plan, then that would be awesome too. I don't think any other phone manufacturer can beat that. A huge plus for Apple.

My sentiments exactly. I completely fail to grasp what is the market allure for a camera phone. it's practically impossible to buy a decent phone these days that DOESN'T have a camera.

i have a phone because i need to make calls. i have a sleek phone because i want something that catches eyes. i want a 3g phone with high speed internet. i want an mp3 player. i want slick interface. i want to bluetooth tether that high speed internet to my laptop. i want a calendar that doesn't suck. A high res screen. I want lots of cool **** on my phone.

What I certainly don't need nor want is a ****** ass camera to take blurred, washed out pics of my cat licking an ice cream cone. Phones are having hard enough time trying to double as mp3 players. subbing for a camera is a far greater stretch in my estimation, yet for some reason the cameras are on the market and the mp3 function remains a niche market.

I am getting a (free) Sony Ericsson W950 as an upgrade to my existing phone (k800). Was thinking about getting rid of my 2nd generation nano but now i am just going to sell the W950. It is a great phone but there are a few sticking points - currently no mac support, no camera, only 4 GB memory, i assume the battery life will be less than my nano (8 Gb Black), if i forget to charge it then i lose both the phone and the mp3 player.

So if apple can come up with a Nano - Mini sized phone which has 8Gb memory, a camera, all the functions of a decent phone then i would seriously consider getting one - however this will be at least 18 months before i get a new phone so by then hopefully the iPhone will be 2nd generation. i waited with the nano and that played out perfectly so happy with it.

I am going to keep my nano and my current phone. The W950 will be going up on eBay to help me recover some costs of my student life.

The interface has to be at least as good as Sony Ericssons, tried many other phone and they do not come close (LG, Samsung, Motorola these are all especially poor)

i am sure the design and the syncing capabilities (w/ mail, ical, etc) will be tempting, but battery life will be the biggest concern for me. i have the slvr w/ itunes now but rarely ever use the music feature as it drains the battery too quickly. by the time i need to make a phone call at night, the battery is dead......

Battery life will be fine if you charge your phone every day.
