I'd like to see a screenshot of the person who clicked "Verizon > 4 Mbps / sec "
Is that even possible with Verizon's 3G?
The highest speed I heard/saw from VZ is between 2-3Mbps.

The two users that voted "Verizon > 4 MBps" are dukebound85 and EvilEvil. I'd love to see their screen shots too! I'll only believe it when I see it.

Does everything but no voice and data:D

after 2.5 years on verizon with a blackberry, i dont feel like i'm missing out on anything there. with what i've gained from switching to the iphone, i am MORE than impressed with everything the phone can do.

this is sitting on my desk at work... upload speed sucks, but i'm not sending any big files anywhere.

Have fun with that upload speed when you do have to though! Just pray a call doesn't come, make you stop that upload to take the call, start the slow upload all over again....not being a jerk either, it's just bound to happen and it will suck for ya!

nah, the only thing i'll ever have the need to send out will be a picture or two here and there. this is a personal device - if i NEED to send a big file, it can usually wait until i get home.

oh, and for comparison, my blackberry storm2 never got anywhere close to those numbers. most i could get out of that thing would be 0.6mb download. that thing was a pig for network speeds.

i may not get ultra-fast netowrk speeds, or not have the ability to handle voice and data, but for my personal usage the verizon iphone serves my needs just fine.

There is data that Verizon subscribers don't use as much data as AT&T subscribers. A Verizon subscriber would be content with those speeds for the most part.

I'll take an educated guess that the AT&T people who made the switch as a whole will be more dissapointed than already existing Verizon customers.

We shouldn't push your experience onto someone who has always been content with their speed and 3G Internet.

just sharing my opinion and experience :D isnt that what the internetz are for?

Yes there are threads already with speeds posted but not easy to compare without reading each post.

Post in the Poll and lets get some real results.
Give up already, you'll never get "real results".

They're too many variables. Experts in the field of cellular communications will confirm that. Besides what's the difference? You either have a CDMA or GSM model anyway. It's not like can tune either for max performance.

My speeds are pretty bad...

I slid down the speedometer and this showed up!... You can do it like 5 times and different messages show up (pretty funny)

Keep sliding it down. After you think you've seen the last message, and you are getting blank screens behind the speedometer, a new message finally pops up. It's about the 10th or 11th pull. Hilarious!

This is my speed at home were my bars tend to be between 1-3 bars (its rare when I do get 4), but around town I always get constant 5 bars and my Speedtest is always much higher.

This is at our other location in deep south Jersey close to the Walt Whitman bridge. I tend to get weaker 3G internet here(south Jersey) compared to Philly.

IMO AT&T is a type of network built for devices like the data hungry iPhone because of GSM, This is the reason why Verizon is getting into LTE because of the demand of data hungry smartphone users with data hungry devices. I'll agree that CDMA is better for voice. However at least in Philly and south Jersey I have little problem with voice.

And now theshoehorn says he's getting over 4 MBps on a Verizon iPhone. Like the other two, no screen shots. Also like the other two, I'll believe it when I see it.

Verizon here in Knoxville is starting to crawl...had been gettin 1 down and .6 up all day. Did a side by side speed test today simotaneous with a droidx on Verizon and saw 1/3 better up and down. Also did a side by side with a AT&T iPhone and was beat by 300k down and 100k up. Now is horrible though

Verizon said they are prepared for the iPhone in regards to data. Is it possible their being prepared means they learned from AT&T about congestion and are controlling Verizon 3G so their network doesn't collapse? In other words 'we are giving you what we can to prevent network congestion'.

Before reading this thread, I was satisfied with my AT&T speeds of 1-2mbps and ping of 400-600ms. Now it looks like others are enjoying much better performance! Any ideas why my ping would consistently be twice that of others?
