Verizon 4.0 mbps is impossible. The technical limit of CDMA rev.a is around 3.1 mbps, and that's under perfect conditions(probably standing next to the tower, with you being the only one using it). I think the BEST you can get under normal circumstances is around 2.3-2.5 mbps on verizon

No, not true. Look at my post right before your post.

Here are my speeds from Verizon.

Wow those speeds are really high for Verizon from what I've seen. I hope they fix it and my speeds go up .

Here is a difference between Verizon and AT&T in Phoenix, AZ. same location. at&t sucks.

Hec, when you say 2.3mbps- how does this translate in terms of seconds it takes to download a simple webpage?

Everyone keep mentioning speeds but this means nothing to me. I just wanna know how many seconds or mins does it take for a page to load? How about a 10 min youtube vid?

notice how in the evenings 17.. and 20... AT&T speeds drop dramatically ? Your 4am speed test really are not surprising

Perhaps, but that's when I use my phone... so those hours are incredibly relevant. My primary use time is at off-peak hours, so the faster network is more important to me than the less-congested one. Peak speeds on AT&T are, of course, going to be significantly faster than peak speeds on Verizon until an LTE iPhone.

Especially since the Qualcomm MDM6600, the dual-mode chip in the Verizon iPhone 4 and likely the same one in the future iPhone 5 for all networks, supports HSPA+ at up to 14.4 Mbps and AT&T has already rolled out HSPA+ to 99% of its 3G network.

Love my Verizon iPhone

I don't know where the slow speeds are coming from with Verizon, but here's my test from this afternoon.

I'm extremely happy with my Verizon iPhone. Switched to Verizon 3 years ago from AT&T. AT&T was horrible in my area (Northern Virginia) at the time, and I refused to go back.

I first entered the smartphone universe with my purchase of the Motorola Droid around Christmas of '09. I liked the phone overall, but was always envious of my iPhone carrying counterparts. With all the force closes on apps and having to restart my Droid all the time, I began to consider it the "bastard child of Microsoft."

This iPhone does everything the Droid did, it just does it faster. It has a much more crisper display, and the phone is "sexy." The only thing I like better about the Droid is that it had a blinking LED light that notified me if I had any notifications, texts, emails, calls, etc. With the iPhone, I have to hit the home button to turn on the screen to check that.

I ran a bunch of tests and got some real differences in results.
Att phone:
5.13 was my best and 1.8 was the worst. I got my best results from the Palo Alto server and worst from San Francisco.

My results are all over the place with AT&T, a wide range. Verizon is more consistent but not as fast as AT&T. I've had AT&T results lower than Verizon(not many) and results that smoke Verizon.

With Verizon testing I sort of know what to expect after a couple tests, predictable.

AT&T is anywhere from 0.25Mbps down and 0.2Mbps up on 3G to around 3.5Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up.

They say we have degraded towers in our area. They've said this for almost two years, they have not been fixed.

I'm getting one on Verizon as soon as I get my tax return.

Umm those numbers aren't bad compared to the Verizon numbers we been seeing.

Verizon is consistent in this area around 1Mbps up and down. If, god fobid, I go into the center of the city, I'm stuck with sub 500Kbps speeds.

Guess it's just me. The numbers look better than 1Mbps....

2 out of those numbers are close to 1Mbps. Then you have a .35, .65.

Then the rest of the numbers are twice as fast as 1Mbps!

+1 Even Verizon claims 3.1 mbps as their current maximum limit.

Anyone claiming over that is either posting bogus results or we've found a flaw in the speedtest.net app.
