I have not returned mine yet, but I'm strongly considering it.

This battery issue is really bugging me, and I have 5 days left.
If you are not sure, one way to buy some more time (assuming you bought it online or used in-store pickup of an online order) is to go ahead and initiate a return. That prints out a return label and you have almost 2 additional weeks to return it. At least that's how it works on the US site.

Thanks for that tip!! I could use the additional time. Really hoping apple fixes this issue!!

I'm returning mine. I need it for music production only and many of the plug ins I use in logic cause it to crash (with just one instance open). Apple techs have recreated the crashing so it's not just my machine and of course it's likely to be something the 3rd party developers need to resolve...but as it's my job I can't afford to have an unstable machine, or only have access to half the tools I rely on daily until it's fixed. So with a heavy heart I'm buying what I think is outdated tech in the form of the 2015 machine (my early 2011 machine has been creaking along for too long and I've held on for 6 months for the new machines to come out!!!)

I'm replying to Aevan who puts the tbMBP on a pedestal with other true professional equipment.

I do consider it professional equipment. The fact that you bought it to surf or that you do not need the larger trackpad or that you do not see advantages of a mobile computer over a desktop is not an objective measure of whether something is a professional tool or not.

What were you having? Mine had to be returned. They said they would rather me get a brand new one rather than try to fix it. It would crash upon waking up and just reboot, or I would get a blank screen until I did a hard reboot.

I have the same issue... I thought I have fixed it until I enabled file vault now i start to have the sleep/wake issue now..

OMG! Thankfully, I have the same issue too! Maybe its just a software problem?

I think it is software issue but I can't be spending close to 5K CAD for a machine with this issue... I never have such issue with my previous MBP and I am getting close to my return date (Jan 15) if I continue to face such issue I will return it. But I have done and will be doing the following before I give it up..

1. Reset SMC.
2. Run Disk Aid on both partitions.

3. I will reinstall OS again, it will be my last attempt to save it.

Thanks!

Yeah sounds like the same thing. Have you initiated the return? I told Apple this waiting is ridiculous. Could be until the end of the month for me. They thought it was more of a hardware issue rather than software, at least for me. One tech thought it could be power related, but just to swap.

OK This is what I have done and I am not sure if this fixed the sleep/wake and battery drain issue.. I boot into Recovery mode and run Disk Aid twice on both my MBP partition and reset SMC after that.. I had sleep/wake issue twice yesterday before the Disk Aid and SMC and keep my finger crossed I have no issue today.. I will monitor till Tuesday before I initial a return.

I've been all over the place with these 2016 models. First I purchased the 13" non-touchbar MBP and then it all went downhill from there...

13" ntMBP (8GB/256GB/i5)
to
13" tMBP (8GB/256GB/i5)
to
15" tMBP (16GB/256GB/i7)
to
13" tMBP (8GB/512GB/i5)

I've FINALLY settled in with the 13" tMBP 512GB variant. In the end I concluded that the 13" form factor is just too perfect. I know the new 15" is technically smaller than the previous generation 15". However, in daily usage I found the new 15" to be just as cumbersome as my 2015 15" was. So I'm happy to have finally ended on the 13".

The same salesperson at the Apple Store assisted me with the exchange of my last 3 machines. I thought he would roll his eyes at me on my final exchange from the 15" to the 13" but he agreed that the 15" was just overkill for me. I promised him I wouldn't be back for yet another exchange. His response was, "who cares? You can do this every other week if you want. I don't care." But I have no plans to do so. The machine has been perfect for me. :D

Returned my 15" 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD with the Radeon Pro 460.

-Never got used to the keyboard when I had it for 2 weeks. Too little travel and too many errors when typing.
-For my use the TB is a gimmick. Stopped fiddling with it after day 1.
-Speakers just about died from a boot camp install.

Wanted to get a replacement but was told I would need to wait a week for more stock.

Ended up going for an Dell XPS 15 in Rose Gold same day I returned the MB Pro. Upgraded the RAM to 32GB myself and ended up saving close to $1500(AUD). Could not be happier with my decision. As an added bonus now every standard HDMI cable in my house/workplace now works without any adapters or cable replacements!

Not returning my 15" TB. So far everything works as advertised. Good battery life. Getting well over 10 hours with light use, web, word processing, about an hour of Lightroom thrown in, etc., not including sleep. I like the keyboard and trackpad, coming from a Dell XPS 13. The touch bar is great and I try and use it as much as possible to get used to it and I see even more potential as developers support it. Screen is beautiful. Sorry but nothing bad to say...at least not yet.

After numerous problems, including a scratch out of the box and battery life (which I originally thought was not going to be an issue), I returned my 15" tbMBP for a Surface Book with Performance Base.

Haha, why would I return it? Given the portability, the performance is absolutely incredible. This thing is about 25% faster in my daily work than the 2015 model, it can play games smoothly (tested with GTA V, Witcher 3, Cities Skylines, Tyranny), its very quiet and cool, the display is amazing, the keyboard is much more comfortable than the old one (already got used to it after a day or so) and the battery life is the best of any Mac I have used so far. TouchID works great (much better than on the iPhone) and the touchbar, while requiring some mental adjustment, is a definite productivity upgrade from the useless function key bar. Not to mention that this thing is an absolute marvel of engineering.

The only annoying thing right now is the lack of reasonably priced, functional USB-C multi port hubs... For instance, I can't seem to find a dock that would offer me a bunch of USB ports as well as ethernet. But this is only the question of time.

I need apple to recognize that this sleep wake issue is significantly disruptive and should be patched immediately

Just reiterating that in the end, I did not return my 15 inch 2.7/512/455. Its a beautiful machine, and I'm sure I will be drooling at the next revision - but no one know when and what at this point. No known issues.

The worst part was that it was blatant just how much more snappy the XPS 13 was compared to all 3 of the 2016 MBP's I've now owned.
Nice story.
Strange and hard to believe observation (but it is your subjective POV) and contrary to majority of users+my experience with windows PC, but give it one month... and test snappiness* of Windows

*if exist such thing as snappy Windows...
