If I had to pick between the two then I would go with the enV2 because the Voyager is just too big. Personally I have the Samsung Glyde and it combines the best of those two phones, a touchscreen and the small form factor.

Happy New Year everyone.

I just had the chance to play with a friend's Storm. Nice phone. Not as nice as the iPhone, but I'd take it. I plan to go to the Verizon store tomorrow to check, but is it possible to get the Storm without a data plan?

nope, all BlackBerry's have to have a data plan of some sort.

what about the glyde?

its touchscreen is capacitve (unlike the voyager and being pressure based) and has a qwerty keyboard as well[...]

what do you mean the touchscreen is "capacitive"?

If you simply MUST chose between these two, go with the Voyager.
But really, please give the LG Dare another chance, I am a avid texter (150+ per day) and I really love the virtual keyboard for texting on. Though some may disagree, it is easily on par/if not better then the iPhones keyboard.
The touchscreen is much better then the Voyager as well, and the Dare carries many more features than the Voyager.
The camera is the best that there is on any current touchscreen phone on the US market, with a 3.2mp camera w/flash.
Hope I could help.

okay well now you kind of have me looking into the Dare. my only concern is that since it's all touchscreen i don't want to ruin the screen with sweaty palms if i'm using it after i work out or if my hands are just sweaty in the summer from the heat (i know it's Jan. but summer will be here eventually).

that's why i looked into the Voyager, IF my hands were like a little dirty/greasy/sweaty (i'm not a pig, i'm just saying..) i would be able to use the QWERTY keyboard inside instead of the touchscreen.

anyone know what i mean?

my brother liked it

i used to have the voyager, was pretty nice too. just big

either way, we both ditched those phones and got iphones during the test drive period lol. glad i did

As much as I like Samsung stuff, I never had luck with cell phones. I think they make one of the best TV's out there, but as for cell phones, I'll pass.

I like the Dare a lot, but IMO it's a "girls" phone (I see 90% of girls having it) and I can't text with it. My wife can do an OK job and shes tiny and has tiny hands and fingers. If she wasn't so tiny, she would have a harder time texting. Sometimes smaller isn't a good idea.

the Dare is a sleek good looking phone, can you use the touch keyboard in landscape mode for anything? or is it like some things it has to be portrait mode?

My wife had 200 in hers at 1 time

that's a good amount, my friend had the Dare and he said the only thing he disliked was the texting on it, he said it was harder than just a regular QWERTY keyboard. but he said he'd prefer the Dare over the Voyager.

The Dare is a great phone, but for texting... eehh, not the easiest.

I personally have the Dare and have only dabbled with the Voyager and Env2, and from my dabbling, the Env2 seems like a very stable and sturdy phone.

Most people that I know with the Voyager don't even use the Touch Screen that much.

So, I would recomend the Env 2.

EDIT:
The Env2 can hold 400 messages I believe.

I use the touch screen all the time, and the Env2 is a lot less than 400. Also the main issue holding that many texts is deleting them.

It's either 300 or 400, I'm not sure. No less than that though.
My dare has 291 messages in it at the moment.

I'm not sure what you mean about deleting however.
I have mine set on Auto Delete which just deletes the last message in your inbox every time you recieve a new message and it doesn't delete media filled messages.

Or you can just press delete all and delete the messages that way.

do you like having the Dare? because in your previous post you recommended the enV2 over the Dare. i'm kind of disregarding the enV2 honestly, so it's between the Voyager and the Dare.

OH! I thought it was just between the Voyager and the Env2.
I didn't know the Dare was involved.

I love my phone! If you plan to type on QWERTY, then it might be a little difficult, but I'm blazingly fast on T9.

The features on it are awesome.
This is the first phone that I haven't become bored with in a LONG time.

Definately give it a 14 day trial or whatever Verizon allows to see if you can adapt to the screen. I calibrated mine with a stylus, and that helped a lot.

But the screen is WORLDS better than the Voyager in my opinion.

the original intent of this thread was solely between the enV2 and Voyager, until someone mentioned you don't need a data plan with the Dare, then the Dare came into play.

and i've never had a QWERTY phone, and i am hella fast with T9 as well, but i think the idea of QWERTY is neat so i thought i'd give it a try. though i don't know if i want a full time touchscreen, considering my hands get a little sweaty easily (i have reallly bad nerves, hands sweat easily, joy!) and with the iPod Touch it's kind of like.. ehh it makes the screen dirty.

and about the "14 day trial" Verizon does, do you have any info about that? i've been told before that there was something about "buy a phone, don't like it, exchange within XX days" but i never really thought about it until today.

i believe its 30 days

Yeah, basically, you get 14 or 30 days or whatever and can return your phone if you didn't like it and get something else no questions asked.

BUT, you can only do that once.
When you get the second phone, your stuck with it.
And it's just part of their policy. I would ask about it when you call/go in..
I've done that once before.

I sweat a lot too, but I'm not sure if it's affected my phone use much.
You know yourself better than I do, so.

If your fast on T9, I would stick with it then. I'm fast on QWERTY phones as well, but not AS fast.

I would try out the Dare, see if you like it, and if you don't, return it and go for the Voyager.

what i mean by the sweaty hands thing, not trying to sounds gross haha, is does it like make the screen look dirty? mainly, i'm asking about appearance rather than efficiency because i'm certain that it won't harm the touchscreen.

and now i just have to get approval from my dad, as far as he knows i'm getting the Voyager, but he puts off going to Verizon everyfrickenday and it's getting old.

The only time mine gets dirty from sweat is when I get back from a run or something and make a call.
But just a quick swipe on the shirt or whatever makes it clean and shiny. ;)

If it's that much of a problem, you could always just carry a stylus in your pocket and use it that way.

it's not really, but it kept me away from the Dare and had me towards the Voyager. but i found a 3-pack of Screen Protectors on Verizon's website, and i bet using those would help and stuff. thanks for your input about the phone!

No problem, if you need anything else, feel free to PM me.

The Dare is a nice phone and I bet you will like it. It's too small for me tho. I had to call Verizon today and got an issue fixed fast, I just wish they had the Iphone :D
