Nobody NEEDS an iPhone either, we buy one because We can and we want.

I have a few apps that are over 1GB each, 16GB isn't going to cut it for what I want.

I agree with these I had to erase some apps when I had my 16gb iPhone 4S so I decided to get me a 32gb I didn't want to spent 750$ plush tax so I looked on Craigslist found this guy selling a 32gb brand new(it wasnt even open lol) for 600$ and sold my iPhone 4S 16gb for 550$ so it costs me less , now I have 16gb left with all my current games and apps and I could add my library of music when I have to take trips otherwise I used google music since is free and the online website works great on the iPhone and over 3G

Damn it, I just scanned your QR tag and got rick rolled.

And it's quite good to have that ability. That way I'm not having to plan out what goes on and what doesn't. Nor am I going to be on a plane without WiFi, wishing I had downloaded x song, move or video before I left.

I had the 32GB 4, upgraded to a 64GB 4S.

I won't knock the people who got the 1GB models though. People use their phones differently. Some don't even bother to store media on it and even 8GB would be a lot to them.

Quite surprised to see the 64GB option with the most votes so far to be honest.

Myself included.
My att store sold way more 16g and most cell phone stores ran out of 16g right away stating they only had 64g phones left.

Anyone know what Apple's sales numbers actually are?

I bought a 16GB thinking it would fulfill my needs...it does not:(

My reasoning when I got the 16GB was that I had a nano that was mostly filled with music that I never listen to, and a Droid X with virtually nothing in the memory (because the damn thing never worked). I also figured that the screen on the iPhone was too small for me to enjoy watching a movie.

What I didn't count on was the phenomenal games. And some of them are over 1GB in size. I haven't been much of a gamer in years, but I really enjoy the games out for the iPhone

The next time I get an iPhone, I will get the largest capacity available. I really didn't expect that iOS would affect how I feel about media, so it's been a nice surprise and a disappointing decision

I have 750g hard drive on my computer and have no need to to try and store my entire life on my phone,
(so 16g is plenty for me).
I think most peeps that fill up a 64g iphone do it cause they can, not because they need to. ;)

I guess that's true :confused::confused: but you could just as easily say those that are unable to fit everything they want on a 16GB are cramped because they can't, not because they don't want more space.

I could "make do" with 16GB. I could change out stored music regularly (instead of loading my whole 14GB library), and/or downconvert my music to 128Kbps, and/or use iTunes in the Cloud (kind of a data hog, I'm not on unlimited). I could delete some apps and load them only when I anticipate using them (e.g. Audubon Birds is 700MB, Crystal Bridges art museum guide is 500MB, Garmin USA is 2.2GB). I could be more selective about photos/videos that I keep on the phone, move all photos I want to be able to show people up to Facebook and all videos up to Youtube (the data issue is a concern again).

Or, I could spend an extra $200 and not have to do any of that.

To each their own. For me, the convenience is worth $200.

I don't think they publicize the breakdown. I know that my 64GB took 3-1/2 weeks to arrive, at which time 16GB phones were available in just about a week.

Maybe the breakdown surprised Apple as much as it did you?

You sure know how to complicate things Sean :)

This Is Surprising

If anyone had asked me, I would have thought the 32GB would have been the more popular choice. I went for the 32 based on the knowledge that my iPhone 4 was never filled up completely.

I wonder how this will pan out over time?

So far, with almost my entire music library, 30 or so apps, 700 or so pictures, I haven't really scratched the surface. You have to be pretty determined to fill a 64GB model up I think.

I agree. I have about 10GB free. iTunes Match made it easier for me to rotate music on the go.

I am not interested in iTunes Match to use up data on the go...or even if I use WiFi it's going to drain my battery. Just easier to pay a little extra up front to have the storage on board.

I would have guessed 32GB would be the least popular. If you're willing to pay for more storage, $100 gets you 16GB - and another $100 gets you another 32GB. I would expect that most buyers who are willing to spend extra, would max it out & get the best bang for the buck.

I'm surprised to see 64GB in the lead too but perhaps it just points to the more technical slant of MacRumors members. I certainly don't think that Apple has sold more 64GB phones than 16GB (though maybe they sold more 64GB than they expected to).

I should have clarified, there is no point in paying $100 extra for 16Gb for ME. I listen to the same music all the time and I have unlimited data for music match and spotify.

I'm not quite surprised. Reading over the forums there's people with way more data needs than me, and the higher capacity iPhones seem to have become much more popular around here. I'm actually happy I can still make due with 16GB, we'll see how that changes by the time the next update hits though

If you mean iTunes Match, that takes up space on your devices. Spotify doesn't, but Match does.

I've never needed more than 16GB, so I got that. I'm rarely far away from my music library, and even if I am, it is all uploaded to Google Music.

Bought a 32gb when I had originally planned on buying a 16gb. Reserved (or so I thought) a white 16gb 4S at Best Buy Mobile a few days ago around noon and told them I would be there at 8PM. Arrive at 8:10PM and the female rep there had no idea of a reservation and sold the last 16gb 30 minutes prior. Of course I was visibly frustrated after driving nearly an hour to pick up a phantom phone.

Her co-worker called the morning/afternoon crew and I guess the manager said they were so busy he forgot to write a note for the reservation. So they offered to buy my BB Bold 9650 (not so great condition) for $186 and a $50 discount on a white 32gb 4S. I walked away with having to only pay $76

I thought there would be a much larger spread between the choices, and like others I'm surprised by the fact that 64 gig is the most chosen. I thought the 32 gig would be.

Maybe cause the ones the upgraded from 32 iPhone 4 got a 64gb iPhone 4S because they already new they had theirs full

The wife and I went for 64GB because our previous 32GB iPhones were at capacity. (Lots of media -- music, movies, podcasts -- more so than apps.)

I'm not. The polling sample only includes MacRumors forum users who are likely to be enthusiasts. If you're expecting the poll to represent the overall iPhone user base then you probably would be surprised. Keep in mind that any discussion forum polling like this doesn't include a statistically significant sample that also represents all users out there. It's a common mistake.

I got the 32GB, but not because i wanted, but because i got a good price on it. Cost me the same as a 16GB - unlocked ofcourse.

The thought was to get a 64GB as i know i would always have benefit of the more space to put more things on it as i've had a 3GS 32GB for some time i found that it was enough, but i always tend to overfill with things i might want to watch or listen too, so i can manage 32GB fine if i just update it daily and remove movie/series i've seen.

i will go 64 GB , battery much better

Quoted just for the lulz! :D - LOL!!!!!1
