There would be no point to a 20" laptop - too big and heavy. I ditched my 17 for a 15 because of it's weight. I don't like iMacs because they're glossy.

No, I wouldn't for all of the reasons most of the other posters have pointed out (too big, too heavy, isn't the whole point of notebooks their portability?) I like my MBP, and if I felt I needed a larger (and admittedly, stunning) screen, I'd choose a desktop, something on the lines of the iMac.

Cheers and good luck

The point of such a device being?

It's not mobile (size), it's not lap-sized (size), it's not portable (weight), and an iMac would be usable virtually everywhere that this monstrosity would be able to be used.

i'm sure in the future they will have 20 inch laptops that fold into the size of a credit card. it is impractical to sit that close to a screen of that size. i would most likely not buy a 20 inch laptop, even if made by apple.

Yes... well...

Try a projector the size of a credit card.

I wouldn't mind a 18.4 to be honest. But the price would probably be riduculous and I wouldn't be able to afford it. Nothing better for a minimalistic office :)

I think the 17" MBP's resolution has hit a ceiling of sorts (1920x1200), though. If it increases again at its present size, the utility of the display wouldn't be practical, in my opinion.

If it were quad core and had a blue-ray drive i would buy it! i still think that if Apple made a bigger laptop they would use the $2799 price point. BUt it would cost about £3000 :)

The 15" is already pushing how large I want a laptop to be but I think it's the ideal compromise between being portable and the screen being large enough to be used as a main computer. Any serious work I do is done on an external monitor so getting a larger laptop screen is rather pointless for me anyways.

Maybe a few people are willing to use a 20" as a portable computer but the size and weight will probably make it more of a desktop. If that is the case then you've just paid more for a laptop rather than buying a desktop iMac. That alone will keep Apple from making a 20" because it will be a very small niche market...If I almost never move around with my laptop they why pay the extra premium for a laptop that is slower than a desktop for the same price?

MY 17" is the only computer that i use with no external monitor. So i would welcome 18.4 inches but maybe not 20".

I can see if it was a purpose built photo editing rig. But not for like wide spread distribution. That thing would need backpack straps to carry.

Ha. I just saw that too. crazy that it has a stupid Windows Media Center remote integrated into the case with two hard drives. totally ridiculous.

My grandpa has one of those. It is the biggest piece of crap I've ever used. It's unbearably slow and I almost broke the screen off the stand when I was using it once. Luckily, I was able to hack job it back on and he didn't notice.

He just likes to buy stuff cause he can. Funny thing is, he can't cause he can't afford to pay his bills!

20 inches is way too big. I'm already satisfied with my 15. I think the 17 is already pushing it. A 20 inch would be ridiculous in my opinion.

If I wanted a 20", I'd get an iMac. A 20" MBP would be a land whale too big to be actually mobile.

To much of a good thing is generally not a good thing.

A 20" laptop is NOT portable. Sure you can lug it around but it's not a LAPtop anymore. I would much rather get an iMac or just an external monitor for a 15" or 17" laptop. I don't even like 17" laptops. They're just too big for me. I think 15" is the perfect size for a laptop.
