Ewww...hell no. I would rather buy a 20" LCD and a Mac Pro, or MBP, or iMac. 20" screen on a notebook is a waste of money and defeats the purpose of a laptop.

No, a 20" laptop would be too heavy, too big and I would not be able to use it comfortably. The biggest laptop that i will ever get is a 15", it combines the best of both worlds. But I still prefer the Air because it is so thin and small. If I had an antithesis, they would buy it though.

No. It's because I'm a small person. A 13 inch is plenty for me.

Furthurmore; what a considerate thing to say in an economic crisis....

It makes no logical sense for someone not to purchase the highest technical spec they can afford.

Because you cant afford one.

Wow you people make mbps sounds like they are a gold bar. Price difference between models are so slight... A few hundred dollars is nothing. I bought a 15 inch 2.66Ghz mbp 2 months ago and just yesterday bought a 13 inch...does it mean I couldn't afford the 17 inch... No, I just have my reasons why not to get it like so many others. I plan to get an Alienware m17x as my 17 inch laptop soon to replace my Toshiba satellite pro and qoismo laptops because if I am going to have a large screen laptop it's use would be to game..which the 17 inch MBP falls quite short on compared to others.

discuss.
Also what specs would be required for you to buy one.
the imaginary price is $2799

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL x1000

what a silly question

i can picture you pulling a suitcase on wheels to carry your 20" mbp :D :D :D

are you expecting a giant iphone too ???

It'd be interesting to see... but personally I wouldn't want one. I like the portabilty, which is why the biggest I would go with is a 15" MBP. I still prefer carrying around a 13" though.

noooo way, that thing would be way too big, iMac all the way if I want larger than a 15" IMO......i'm perfectly happy with my 13" and if I ever want a desktop it'll be an imac (no way i'm carrying around a 17" forget a 20")

20" HP HDX Dragon

I have an 20" HP HDX Dragon that I carry all over the world. I have both a roller case and a shoulder bag for it. I prefer the roller but it doesn't fit in the overhead compartments of smaller jets but decreases shoulder pain. :)

The only major pain (heh-heh) is traveling through airport security. All the TSA folks want to either test it for security purposes or gawk at it.

Why do I possess such a beast? It is certainly not a 'business laptop.' I'd like to say I need it but there's no one on the planet who NEEDS a 20" laptop. It serves as my desktop replacement and my primary-use computer. It contains everything I could ever want (I upgraded the DVD to a dual-layer blu-ray burner) and the HD 1080p screen is awesome. I am frequently in parts of the world that are non-English speaking and I speak only English. It provides entertainment and all the computing power I need for work and play.

I frequently have to run multiple VMware images and the CPU and 8 GB of RAM handle that nicely. I dual-boot between Vista and OSX 10.5.7. I prefer OSX but it took me months to get everything to work. (I still can't get an external monitor to work.) I'm also not sure how easily I'll be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard.

Viking396: I noticed from your signature you have one, too. I would love to know what you're running on it, especially if you've got 10.6 working. Please email me at botard(at)wonderpig.com with any info.

In summary, the geek quotient is high, the features rich, and the performance awesome. Yes, it is literally a pain in the neck to carry but I'm willing to endure it.

I went for the 15" MBP as even a 17" is above portable for me.

If carrying a 20" machine around then with the iMac shape would be just as easy. Also in the UK if tried to use a 20" laptop on the train would definitely annoy the person next to you.

That sort of size just isn't portable.

Would you guys buy an apple laptop (all the current sizes) where the display detaches (it would be wireless) and it ran full mac os on a touch screen? I think it would be amazing.

Quit trolling. You as well as every knows that this thread should have died months ago... like anyone would seriously purchase a 20" laptop FFS.

Get a grip.
