Yes!

what's so shocking? A touchscreen gps with itunes built in. That sounds awesome.

I drove Norwich to Brighton and back (180 miles each way) in 24 hours at the weekend, with a car full. We were using an iPad for various bits and pieces, like Google Maps traffic, music, Facebook, etc. Definitely decided that cars should come equipped with iPads for routes, music, relieving boredom, etc. So much better than the Sat nav I have in mine.

And with Siri as well, to launch apps, play music, get directions, send iMessages, etc. it makes for a perfect car system, and 7.85" is probably a better size (and price) for sticking to your dashboard than 10".

In any case, I suspect that I'll be looking to get at least one for my daughters for Christmas, if the price is what's being suggested. And then I'll be jealous that theirs are retina and I've still got iPad 2!

Tiptopp

i love my ipad, but it's a tad too big to tote around. a 7.85" form factor could change that. throw in lte, then i might prefer a 7.85" ipad + prepaid feature phone over carrying an iphone.

Nope. My Apple ecosystem is complete for now with an iPhone, iPad & MBP. When the time comes to upgrade he iPad we'll consider our options then. Right now, we're content & have no need to concern ourselves with hypothetical devices that may or may not even exist at the time we are ready to replace our iPad.

To hear some people tell it, the current iPad must weight 50 lbs, and be as big as a coffee table.

To those who grumble that it's too heavy to read with in bed, try reading one of the Game of Thrones books in bed. The weight is comparable and the text is way smaller. Granted, the current iPads are too big to go in your pocket, but :apple: already makes a pocket sized iPad, the Touch... :p

I'll definitely get one as soon as it comes out unless it has a retina display and its cost isn't more than 350 euros at max !

I'd pay 100 euros more if it had complete phone capacity (i.e. Samsung Note), but I know I'm just dreaming ...

When these rumors started again I told myself I wouldn't consider it. Now I've kind of changed my mind. I would consider it and I'd go test it out in stores and see if I like it. Sometimes for shooters I find myself holding the iPad like you would a phone so a smaller iPad might not be too bad.

I love my wifi iPad, but it's a slippery sucker and a tad heavy, so I'm hesitant to take it out of the house. I would hate to see my $600 go down the drain. But if the mini specs are just as good and it's as easy to hold with one hand as a Kindle (or reasonably close), I would buy a one with 3G/LTE and share all the data between the two.

not for me as I have and like the full size but as a cheaper way of getting other people into the ecosystem id def give one as a gift.

I've always said, only half tongue in cheek, that ....

Those who claim to be so deadset against a new device, should be put on a master list.

Then when the new device actually becomes available for sale, those on the "I would never want one" list should not be allowed to own one, or at least be made to go to the end of the shopping line for a month or two.

Might teach a little tolerance.

:)

Actually I would prefer to buy a seven inch iPad not only because of mobility advantage but for the weight factor. iPad is heavy I can't use it with single hand and if I hold with my left and use it with other my wrists get tired. This tablet should not be more than 250grams.

Agree the ipad(3) is a tad heavy.
IMO- The ipad2 is perfect size and weight.

But I can't see doing much more than reading or watching videos on anything smaller. And if you read comics- you want the extra few inches.

The kindle Fire and the overlooked, under-rated Nook Tablet already exist. They already fill this void and are much cheaper than Apple will ever charge.

I would only consider it if it could make phone calls (via headphones) and I could get rid of the iPhone.

I have a 4S and a iPad3, anything in the middle in my opinion would be over-kill. I see a place for it, but it's not for me.

Only if Mini iPad price is cheap enough to capture kindle fire and Nexus 7's market. If not, there is no way to compete with them. Most of people don't buy iPad coz they just don't have money to buy. Beside that they think about the size as a second priority.

My girlfriend is loving these mini iPad rumors.
I can totally see apple putting it out with specks like
8gb storage
Wifi only (lte models available)
Non-retina (original iPad display shrunk down to 7.85")
FaceTime camera
2mp back camera

Starting at $229

That would totally destroy the android tablet market.

I have an iPad 2 and I do not anticipate to buy an iPad mini. Instead, I may upgrade my iPad 2 to iPad 3.

I'm writing this on my second iPad. I use it every day and think it is a great device. But I'd consider the 7 inch. It wouldn't require a bag to carry around and yet it would still allow me to read books and web pages easily.

for me it's price first then specs. And a smaller pad would be great for class with the desk being so small in some of them.

My kids are already asking for one. And they don't follow rumors, they just want a smaller iPad.

I would not consider it for the fact that it's 7", and glad we have the current size already. I like the fact that it's almost the size of paper. The main reason I bought an iPad is for the bigger screen.

However, I can see me buying one for my girlfriend and mum. They both want smaller screen iPad so it's easier to carry round on their smaller purses.

But for myself, no. I won't say never, but for now and till the future, I prefer the bigger screen over the smaller screen.

I thought so... For all the negative things the anti-mini iPad people want to say, there are plenty of people that would consider buying one. One of the bigger reasons seems to be for gifts. I can definetly see people gifting a ~$250 iPad over the current options.

Yes, I would consider it. Think about it. Read reviews. Go to the store to try it. (Assuming Apple comes out with one.)

The excitement over the Nexus 7 has me wanting one, but I want to see what Apple does. The size seems more convenient for me over the current iPad, and I bring my iPad everywhere with me. However, I prefer using my Kindle Touch for reading in bed due to its size and weight.

If they can do it for a $269 price point then Im in for one !

If not I will just buy a N7....but this rumour has put my N7 purchase on hold for 2 months just to be safe :D
