I would only consider the Samsung if they had a 4 inch screen, and Windows OS installed. I'll stick with Apple's or consider the Nokia 808 when it comes out.

Lol, are you just hating or do you really not know Samsung has a Windows phone with a 4" screen?

LOL at everyone voting no. Samsung is one of the largest suppliers of iPhone parts, including the A4/A5 processors, NAND flash, and (on some devices) displays.

You're basically buying half a Samsung phone when you buy an iPhone.

There are different divisions of Samsung.

Samsung doesn't just make phones. They also make Laptops, Cameras, TVs, Panels, and computer equipment.

Maybe this topic needs clarification, but this is about phones that are under the Samsung name, not a phone that has a Samsung LCD or anything like that.

never would I buy a samsung phone again. I had one, it was ******! Sold it after 3 days.

Coming from myself and other people I associate with, the iPhone's materials is what keeps people wanting it along with its design. (metal, glass, etc.)

Also the same reason why others stay away from it. Works both ways.

If i had any use for more than 1 phone i would :) il probably would have a samsung and a windows phone !

Why would any one make a thread about not buying company X's phone?

It's a market and it's good to have many players in that market. The more options for the consumer the better. Not every one likes what you like, get over yourself.

I go out of my way to buy non Samsung parts.
So you don't own any Apple products then correct?

Because if you truly go "out of your way", you wouldn't even entertain buying Apple products due to the high quantity of Samsung made parts inside a lot of their products.

Can i just ask, why are people so persuaded by the android phones that have better hardware than the iPhone? Like i appreciate that, but we know that the iPhone will be supported for like 3 generations after, and I'm just wondering how does the quad-core what ever in the samsung s3 benefit anyone?? Like i couldnt imagine my 4s opening an app any faster being of any benefit to me??? I never understood this...

I said parts not computers. My Mac Pro has no Samsung memory ( a part ) , no Samsung hard drives ( a part ) etc.

:)

No. I like iOS, therefore I have no reason to buy anything other than an iPhone.

Fair enough.

Personally I don't care what parts go into my devices as long as they work and are reliable.
That crappy Hynix memory that shipped in my iMac was tossed after 3 trips to the Apple store for repeated gray screens of death. They finally kept it over night and the tests showed the memory was garbage.
Got 16GB of Samsung ram in there now. No issues.

Yeah, as a 4S owner I understand what you're saying even though I just purchased a gsm galaxy nexus the other day. I've been married to iPhones since the original, then 3g, 3gs, 4, and 4s. Great devices, even have an iPad 2.

I'm not expecting a device that will outperform my 4S in the tasks it can do... Judy expecting a device that will let me tweak various aspects of the OS, and maybe even do some things differently.

I want to give it a decent chance. I honestly just want to tinker with it, and use something different for a while.

I don't know if a faster CPU is really necessary, but I'd definitely like more RAM. If you look at the crash reports on my 4S, 90% of them are low memory errors. It's really annoying when Safari has to reload a page due to running out of memory too.

It won't happen, but I think the next iPhone should have 2GB RAM at least.

Last time I had a Samsung phone, after the third repair for the same problem I threw it in the thrash bin.
Therefore never again.

I put down never, because I highly doubt that an android phone will ever work as well with my mac as my iphone. Also, I have issue with Ars described cheapness of the plastic on the S3. No thanks.
This was something that came up in conversation with a friend, who has a 13" mbp. She thought about an android phone, but if it doesn't work with her mac, then what's the point? The thing keeping her on her crappy nokia is that iphone isn't available for t-mobile on contract.
If android phones (or Samsung in this case) get to the point where they do work as well with macs or better, then I'd give it a shot.

I would if and when there is no longer an iPhone. I just have no interest in checking out any other phones out there and haven't since 2007. Last Samsung phone I owned was a little flip phone from around 2002 or so.

I wouldn't. Every Samsung phone I've handled felt like a hollow, cheaply constructed, glossy mess. From the focus to the galaxy line. If they used some better feeling materials and a build quality that didn't creak when squeezed in my hand I would consider. Oh and those pentile displays...

I don't really care about brands, I judge each product based on itself, not the branding.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II; it's pretty nice phone, but I don't really like Android. The OS seems too busy.

You never really need to physically connect an android phone to the computer as everything is in the "cloud".
