Got mine SG 15" BTO 512GB/460 today an I am really pi**** off.:(
Nice scratch below the right speaker, so I called apple earlier this evening. They will replace it,
after they got mine back. The new one should be here in 5 -7 days after that, if you can trust the friendly apple service. Well, we will see it. Referring to the new order mail, it will take 3-4 weeks (19.–29. December). This will freaking me out!

Slave labor don't give a ****. I just hope my order from B&H doesn't have that cuz they won't accept returns :)

Yep. Mine had it, too. 15" space grey.

Yep. Mine had this EXACT scratch. Same shape, length, in the same exact spot - under the right speaker. 15 inch SG. I exchanged it for a new one, which I got today and it is scratch free. I cannot believe this is happening to people with such an expensive product. I honestly had used mine for all of an hour when I noticed it. I knew I didn't do it. There was no possible way.

I was going to say that the scratch wouldn't bother me. But, I think Apple has priced these new MBPs so high that it's hard to blame anyone for having a low tolerance for issues.

Most of these naysayers are the newer generation of hipster Apple users that previously were loyal to brands like Chevrolet, Samsung, Dell, etc. where this type of quality is tolerated. The build quality used to be in the same class as Porsche, Miele, Bang and Olufsen. My last worry was build quality when buying Apple. Now I'm terrified of disappointment as I pick up my FOURTH laptop on Tuesday.

They have a backlog of orders and are skipping quality control and they're banking on unsophisticated users to not notice. These users are the problem, along with someone that cares missing at the helm. Jobs would've chewed out several Chinese oligarchs by now!

This will harm their brand long term :(

Yeah, I actually sat and stared at it for a good hour - no kidding - just to see if I could get over it and keep the laptop, but I just kept thinking about the 2600 dollars I shelled out for it and I couldn't deal. I knew it would be annoying to wipe it, pack it back up, and re-arrange the exchange with Best Buy, but they were great about it. They sent the new one overnight - free of charge.

Overnight? Wow, i could be lucky if i get my new one before christmas from now. I can't belive that there are any stocks of bto macbooks in europe as soon as possible, like the apple cs said earlier this day. Probably there aren't stocks of any macbooks 15 at german online stores, so why should be my bto configuration in stock of apple here.

When calling apple earlier, i've already tried to get some money back for this cosmetic issue or get a 1:1 replacement by UPS or DHL (at the house door – new for old). But the cs gave me no other option as ship in my actual one and keep waiting. Unbelivable! o_O

I really didn't care about this, maybe I still don't, but I have that damn mark on the left side under the speaker. Exact shape and size. I can't get a good pic at the moment. There must be some machine that's nicking that spot on this laptops. I will probably keep mine since I have found everything else to be perfect. no bleed on the display or discoloration. there is the issue of graphics, but I think I will wait a bit longer before exchanging.

Yep, overnight. I see that Apple has a wait for this machine, but Best Buy has inventory in their warehouses.

That is piss-poor customer service. They should at the very least offer up a discount for keeping it. Seriously stupid.

You're really considering keeping yours? I'd advise to go and return it right now within the return period. I've had the dGPU gate issue with my 2011 MBP and there's no way I'd leave the slightest detail out on day 1. What about day 1000? The only exception would be if you have AppleCare and you're 100% certain that you'll buy a new one within 3 years. The next meaningful update is not before 4-5 years so...

Interesting! I got the exact Little dent on mine on the left side but I only discovered with the harsher lighting in my Office. At home with some warmer lighting I don't see it but I can clearly see it using my iPhone's Flashlight.

Must be something during the Assembling process?

I still have the holiday return period. I had a similar issue on my 2012 15" rMBP. This one is not anything like that issue. This one will occasionally have a "snow effect" when going from an iTunes movie, in fullscreen, to another desktop. I haven't pushed it yet to see if it will scramble or not. So, I do have some time before I am stuck with it. I always get AppleCare before my first year is up.

I found cosmetic damage on mines as well, just got it yesterday. I don't know if I should keep it or return it since mines is a BTO. Plus I used the Barclaycard to finance it and my 30 days ends today. It just bothers me how I paid $3000 on a something that already has cosmetic damage near the speaker/hinge.

I used the card as well, its just a replacement they send you a return label once its scanned they start processing the replacement order.

So how does it work? I really don't want to lose out on the financing. How long did it take for you to get your replacement?

I sent mine in this week my order says processing delivery between dec 1-5. My cc is still charged from the day i purchased it they don't credit your money back then recharge you. Just give apple a call or ask on the chat, they have been very helpful and understanding.

Can I see a screen shot of like your processing order? So it's not removing the charge right on the Barclaycard?
[doublepost=1480202161][/doublepost]Now that I seen scratches near the speakers, I decided to look around if there was any more, and I found a chip mark.

I hate to say it but Jobs himself would be proud of peoples demands for absolute perfection in this thread, he'd of probably thrown the device at a poor sales rep however.
