Seriously, out of possible 365 days, why did his visit have to fall exactly on September 25th???? Did Pope and Tim conspire together or something?? Rumor has it that NYC might block USPS deliveries during his visit. Not sure about UPS or other courriers.

USPS is government; however UPS on the other hand, is a private and the Pope being or not being here is business as usual for them.

Yes, no mail deliveries at all that entire weekend in all of NY. Your phone will be delivered 3 weeks later for security purposes.

I have a feeling it won't even be noticeable that he's in town, unless you're following him around.

NYC doesn't stop for anything.

Obama was and Bill Clinton were having lunch at an Italian restaurant by where I work and besides a bit of traffic it was business as usual.

Coming from someone who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia and is involved in the security plans for the Papal visit, I would say this could be a real possibility. Traffic in this area will be a nightmare, they are afraid of stopped traffic for 50 miles around the city. UPS has a major hub at Philadelphia International, and also in South Jersey right off of 295, which will be a traffic nightmare. UPS might have issues with logistics along the whole east coast because of these factors. Just be thankful you do not live in the security zones in Philadelphia, because you will not be getting any sort of services during the event.

Considering how small and condensed Manhattan is, it's gonna be even bigger a nightmare here in the city. I'm afraid that UPS may have to delay most deliveries by hours or even a day. If that's the case, many NYers may not get their phones until Monday. Ugh.

Cancelling or at least postponing would be very courteous of him. I'm sure many NYers would appreciate such gesture.

Like New Yorkers don't have enough problems with traffic and tourists getting in the way of getting things done in that city. Sheesh

Exactly. Had I not read about the Pope visiting on this forum, I probably would have never even known.

Lucky, in this area it has been the only news we have been getting for the past year, I cannot wait until it is all over. We will be working 12 hour shifts Friday-Monday. Hopefully my phone is here Friday as scheduled from T-Mobile, and I find some time to get it all set up.

I have a 5:30 pick up reservation at fifth ave flagship. I would expect the phones to be on site days before the 25th. Honestly this visit should be on the weekend.

Who knew there would be multiple pope threads in the iPhone forum.
