JESUS. I feel so bad that I thought this was a joke thread. I saw the pope thread, then I read this as PAYPAL.
 
I can't say this is too surprising, I wondered how that was going to work. I would imagine a lot of things will be shut down/stopped due to safety reasons regarding his visit.

D. GATEWAY AIRPORTS HAVE BEEN CREATED AT FARMINGDALE REPUBLIC AIRPORT, NY (FRG) AND LINDEN AIRPORT, NJ (LDJ) BY FAA, TSA AND U.S. SECRET SERVICE TO ACCOMMODATE HELICOPTERS ARRIVING AND DEPARTING JRA, JRB, 6N5 AND VFR FIXED WING SEAPLANE OPERATIONS ARRIVING AND DEPARTING 6N7. TSA SCREENING WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THESE LOCATIONS ON SEPTEMBER 25-30, 2015 0700-1900 LOCAL. SPECIAL ATC PROCEDURES AND ROUTES TO AND FROM THESE AIRPORTS WILL BE ASSIGNED PRIOR TO DEPARTURE FROM A GATEWAY AIRPORT. INTERMEDIATE STOPS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED UNLESS AN EMERGENCY EXISTS.

E. THERE IS A SEPARATE NOTAM DESCRIBING SPECIAL INGRESS/EGRESS PROCEDURES FOR AIRCRAFT ARRIVING AND DEPARTING THE MORRISTOWN AIRPORT (MMU) ONLY.

F. FAA RECOMMENDS THAT ALL AIRCRAFT OPERATORS CHECK NOTAMS FREQUENTLY FOR POSSIBLE CHANGES TO THIS TFR PRIOR TO OPERATIONS WITHIN THIS REGION.

As long as the area is avoided, and the shipping company is a Part 121 carrier (Shipping companies are), flights carrying shipments won't be impacted. However, that doesn't say anything about ground deliveries in the area the VIP may be in. That is a different issue. But the flights shouldn't be impacted by much.

Ugh, this pope guy is causing more headaches than it's worth. He should take his Quran and go back to his fellow Muslims.
 
What happens when they can only make a few deliveries per hour when they normally make 20? The packages get pushed to the next day.

I work for one of the big carriers and with things like this there are always contingencies in place to make service. If by chance, they are unable to make it out in time...then really, is the next day that bad of a wait??
 
The Pope will be in town and you're worried about a delayed shipment?? I'd happily wait another week for the 6s if it meant getting the chance to say hi and take a selfie with that guy!
Heh. The security measures are meant to prevent the little people from interacting with the Pope. Considering his habits in Argentina, I doubt Pope Francis is much amused by this display of paranoia. On the other hand, there's a small band of terrorists who absolutely adore bad press,, so what can you do?

In NYC, EVERY big event that will cause a large number of people (high profile or otherwise) to be in the same area is treated as a potential terrorist target, AS IT SHOULD BE. The NYC PD and FD will be on high alert and likely following all the usual protocols for NYE, Fourth of July, UN summits, presidential visits, etc. This type of security is not special for the pope.

Temporary Service Impacts Due to Papal Visit
Security measures will be in place in areas of Washington, D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia as Pope Francis visits the United States September 22-27, 2015. UPS is implementing contingency plans to minimize service impacts.

During the visit, no pickups and deliveries will be available in some ZIP codes. The days when service will be impacted are:

• Washington, D.C.: Tuesday, September 22, through Thursday, September 24. (Only limited areas of ZIP codes will be impacted, depending upon street closures.)

• New York City: Thursday and Friday, September 24-25

• Philadelphia: Friday and Saturday, September 25-26
