It's slowly happening ... gaming on the Mac.
Problem is most gamers will never migrate to the Apple ecosystem because Macs are not upgradable and have poor repairability. And Apple doesn't help: Apple Arcade is a total failure. Games like Stray could be added to Apple Arcade, but to be played in what devices? Apple TV 4K and most iPhones and iPads have only 4GB of RAM.

As for the Stray game, it has a Overwhelmingly Positive review on Steam. I'd like to play it on my iPad Pro M1.

About time. I really wish the MAC version was released along with other formats at the same time. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to do this. The demand is there. STEAM has proved that MAC users want games too. As a result of the lack of MAC support, I'm about to purchase a STEAM DECK and be done with wanting games on MAC.

I think someone needs to look up the definition of “Popular”.

How about over 100k definitions?

the decades long desperate wails of those insisting every crumb of old mid tier releases is evidence that gaming on mac is finally happening is, if nothing else, an impressive feat of breath control

Blame Apple for making the platform difficult to develop on. If you want new games on macOS, let Apple know and tell them to convince game developers to come back, which good luck because the divesting of OpenGL and killing 32 bit app support was enough to steer game developers away.

unity and unreal can compile the same windows game to mac with metal. opengl sucks.

Have you tried Steam streaming games from your PC to your iPad? It works remarkably well if you can (ethernet) cable both devices. Of course, it won't be as good as natively on the PC, but you'd be surprised.

Such a fantastic little game! Already played it via Boot Camp, but I'm still happy it's coming to the Mac. The game screams for a sequel or DLC, so hopefully that will happen, and it will also come to the Mac.

No. But I tried Xbox Cloud Gaming and played Microsoft Flight Simulator streamed from cloud on my iPad Pro, quality was good, but worse than on my Xbox Series X.

Looks good. I think what some developers are missing is the fact that a game such as this might have a higher % of Mac users because of the scarcity of this type of content. There are plenty of Macs in use, so the audience should be sizable.
